The ' Theatre Edition' of War Child sounds intriguing, to say the least. Personally, most intrigued by the orchestral tracks, as "War Child Waltz" has long been one of my favourites. Eagerly anticipating the release of the all new tracks, for that matter!

I'm also really looking forward to this - I've never heard mention of 'Good Godmother' on any board or forum. Does anyone here know anything about it?

Ian has done (and continues to explore) orchestral versions of his 'rock' repertoire. I would be quite interested to hear -- and please pardon my 69-year-old womanly phraseology here -- a 'balls-to-the-glass' slightly rusted razor's edge version of, say, War Child Waltz or one of its orchestral siblings.

Wow! What good news.. I'm assuming the one orchestral track that has been previously released is the Warchild Waltz or whatever it was called? Is there any footage already out there of this?: - “The Third Hoorah” promo footage, and footage from a January 1974 photo session/press conference where the WarChild project was announced.Or did they just forget to mention it was unreleased? EDIT: Found it on youtube, I'm assuming this is one in the same: It's like the predecessor to TullTapes! I like how when the flute is playing in the song they use footage of Ian playing saxomophone, and when the "bagpipes" are playing in the song, they show footage of him playing the flute. Not quite as good as tulltapes I wonder what the quality will be like on the new release.

Naturally, I've pre-ordered this and the vinyl...and I haven't even finished watching the Iceland Blu-ray!

Not quite as good as tulltapes I wonder what the quality will be like on the new release. I have not, and will not, purchase the recent Passion Play re-release, mainly because I do not own the equipment to listen to the music in the 5.1 surround sound, and am not particularly interested in reading a 70 page booklet about everything having to do with Passion Play. I know enough as it is, and besides, I have plenty of other things lined up that is far more worthwhile to read. I also have no interest in any of the remixing of the original recording. More often than not, I like the original mixes better. The decision whether to purchase something like this comes down to how much of what is being released has never been released before. On Passion Play, I think that there was what, one additional previously unheard verse amounting to something like 20 seconds. So it was not worth it for me. This new War Child release seems like it has more previously unreleased material, that includes three songs (even though I have already heard a live version of Tomorrow was Today), and several never before heard orchestral pieces. So I may get this one. Jeff

So I may get this one. Jeff I'd certainly get the Passion Play re-release (and probably will be getting it once I get my degree and start making a salary) if I could justify spending money on something like that with my budget (of course the beer comes first). Then again, the original Aqualung mix was much worse than the original Passion Play mix so it's not nearly as much of a difference I'm guessing. Another "then again"--I haven't spent nearly as much money on Tull as most people here so I have yet to pick and choose my expanded collection. Is there anywhere one could find the lyrics to the previously unheard verse? Is it on a separate track or is it mixed in with the original? I bet that would really throw me off if I was listening to APP for the thousandth time and then all of a sudden 20 seconds of music I've never heard before played--especially if I didn't know I was listening to the re-release. Twilight Zone stuff.

The two additional stanzas are mixed into the beginning of Side 2, as an integral part of the album. Lyrically, they don't add much - two additional images meant to display one's disillusionment with the concept of Heaven. Musically, they make more sense - the acoustic/electric transition is more smooth this way, and Barrie Barlow throws in quite a few interesting fills.
I'd recommend you get the re-release of Passion Play as it is an album where 'sonic clarity' matters more than 'atmosphere' or 'feel' (which I personally find more important when listening to rock records, which, again, is why I prefer the original mixes of Benefit and Aqualung, but that's another story), it really sounds amazing.
As for the new War Child, I might go out and get it if I spared some extra cash, but it's not a priority. Post-Passion Play Tull has always been a mixed bag for me (at least musically).

Is The Beach part 1 and 2 part of the orchestral tracks?
