I hope none of it happened when they were in Albany. Dan

Completely understandable. Who are these people anyway? I have come in close contact with Ian and former band members before, I knew they were incognito and I just left them alone. I got to see them perform, I was on my time, They were on theirs. Had I wanted an autograph, I would've tried the meet and greet route.

Have you seen some of the articles related to Ian's request? Headlines are reading: "Ian warns fans to STAY AWAY" or "Ian warns fans he'll become violent". What a joke these people are trying to stir up crap. Google results for Ian's "Warning"

The media are a bunch of horrible bastards, aren't they? He wasn't even talking about fans stalking him at home, but annoying him on the road, and yet they still give out his home address and make it sound like he's afraid to leave the house. Wankers!

I remember watching an interview with Justin Hayward where he said something along the lines of "We only ever get to meet the crazies. The good audience members ask if they can come backstage and the security says 'no', and they say 'ok' and walk away. It's the insane ones that get through to us". I've met Ian on 3 occasions. Each time, I was polite and it was within reason. Same same with the band members. Whomever followed Ian to the hotel should be charged with stalking.

I think that, apart from security issues, the tour of Ian are particularly long, so even for his age, he has every right to his privacy.

Good point by Hayward as some of the guys were telling us after the Albany show some of the crap one crazy Tull fan in particular has done to them. Fans need to realize that while the band are being polite, they aren't necessarily comfortable.
