I would have thought there would be some posts about the release.
I have (of course) both the digital release, and the vinyl.
My quick thoughts are that the mix is quite similar to the original. as you would a good mix to be, but is much clearer, and Jeffrey's bass sounds really good, with a nice warm tone. The 5.1 mix is not overdone, with the introductory words coming from the rear setting the tone. The vinyl is fairly well pressed, although there were a few little clicks at times.
The live 5.1 mix is good, but does overemphasise the surround channels, where I would have rather more ambiance, to simulate a concert.
This release has re-woken Minstrel for me, as it has sat on the shelf unplayed for a long time. I can't go back to the original. And Ian's vocals... sigh.
Thoughts?

Geoff This La Grande Edition is like my little baby. I have it on my desk all the time, and I read it, I take care of it, I stare at it. It´s like my little treasure (my precious). It´s just perfect, Jethro Tull at it´s best.

The real Warchild tour pretty much ended late Aug 75. The band released Minstrel and then rehearsed here in Buffalo for a while before beginning a new tour with slightly different costumes (Martin wearing a red suit) and the setlist revamped..excluding many Warchild tunes. This tour began late Sept 75.. I consider the Minstrel tour. As for the 40th Minstrel package besides the 5.1 Steven Wilson remixes there is an 8 minute video from Paris 1975 and a complete Paris 75 concert audio DVD also in 5.1. If you remember the Passion Play extract from the 25th anniversary disc...this is that entire concert. remixed by Jakko Jakszyk from King Crimson. This will be the first EVER released live Tull from the Jeffery Hammond era.. Now if that's not "bells and whistles" I don't know what is. live disc track-list July 5th 1975 Palais des Sportes Paris, FranceIntroduction 02. Wind Up 03. Critique Oblique 04. Wond ring Aloud 05. My God 06. Cross-Eyed Mary 07. Minstrel In The Gallery 08. Skating Away On The Thin Ice Of The New Day 09. Bungle In The Jungle 10. Aqualung 11. Guitar Solo 12. Back-Door Angels 13. Locomotive Breath I WILL buy that one.
