just stopping in to make a quick post/observation. listening to WarChild on my way home from work - The Third Hoorah specifically - which i feel is a really uplifting, joyous song and tune, and i got to thinking how there is usually at least one song from each album (that i have heard so far, anyway) where Ian is basically telling us to wake up and live and be happy. just for example: on Stand Up we have Nothing is Easy (but it could be worse, so listen to what I say and be happy!); on Benefit there is Inside (where we enjoy the most basic simple pleasures of living and loving); on Aqualung there is Wond'ring Aloud (again about recognizing and appreciating what you have in the moment for which to be happy)... on WarChild, The Third Hoorah (where we see the battle that is everyday life, but look within, rally and find that spark that urges you to live to the death! be happy on your own terms)...
Songs From the Wood - i don't have to point out that this is just one long paean to the sheer exuberance of existence - we just have to slow down and pay attention. (the only exception being Pibroch, obviously, which we should take as a cautionary tale in the context of the whole album.)
same for Heavy Horses - especially One Brown Mouse - reminding us to, again, slow down, "feel that we're really real" with each day that passes, each teatime and each page we turn, we're another day older - so, again, pay attention and share it with someone, that reflection on quiet happiness.
pardon my gushing, but since i have "rediscovered" tull, i am seriously appreciating this gift that Ian has given us, all of it. that is all for now!!!
