The internet is a strange place. On the one hand, it brings people with common interests together. On the other hand, it facilitates gripping like never before. Pretty much every music site I visit is filled with more complaints than praise, more retroactive navel-gazing than critical analysis, more wishing than acceptance... human nature I suppose. And not to say the musicians don't deserve it. But I always try to save my vitriol until at least the first notes of a tour have been played. That being said, this operatic endeavour does seem like a thinly-veiled attempt to repackage another "greatest hits" tour under the monicker of artistic creativity...

At least Ian's come right out and admitted it.

Hello everyone! Very unfortunately, I missed the concert "Rock Opera" yesterday evening in Bologna, for business reasons, but I'm SURE, to attend "Rock Opera" tomorrow night in Bergamo. I'm really curious to see what kind of concert can be ! dweenie

Years ago , i was so surprised attending TaaB 2 and Homo Erraticus Tour , that i have seen several times in differents venues , just because of the difference between that kind of show and the usual JT / IA concerts . But believe me , Rock Opera is something special . Probably because eerybody sings , there . Goodyer as singer was a good choice and shows also good skill too . James Anderson has done a very good job managing the images in the background , not easy definetely ! The voce and the presence of the new singer is something absolutely at the top. The duo with Ian performing Wiches Promises seemed to me to be right back in that JT era . The beginning of Living in the Past , sung by her has made us a jump on the chair .. My humble advice is , if the show coes in your zone , don' t miss it , absolutely ! !

Always nice to read a positive review. He won't appear in my neck of the woods for some time but, I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

A few days ago, I noticed an ad in Stockholm's biggest morning paper about an Ian Anderson concert in Stockholm on March 7. I went to the web site of the ticket seller but cound't find the concert. After a while I found it; I made the mistake of searching for "Ian Anderson"; the concert only mentioned Jethro Tull but not Ian.
Then, I notcied that the tickets were surprisingly expensive; 1125 Swedish Crowns, which is equivalent to £87. A few days later, I amde an even more surprising discovery: The first eleven rows were ONLY sold together with a lavish supper before the concert!!! The concert starts a 7.30PM, but I have apparently also paid for a 2-meal course. The menu looks really good, but I never expected that I would HAVE to eat before seeing Ian Anderson perform.
Well, I have already paid for eat so I might as well eat, but this gave me a very sour taste in my mouth. A scam!

Sounds like a "eat and greet", no fooling, I did a eat and greet at a Ronnie Montrose show. I got to eat before the show, meet the band afterwords. Hope it's the same for you! BB

Well, you could be right. However, there is no such information anyway, and I had to look REALLY close on the ticket to find that dinner as included.
I was under the impression that Ian wasn't very much for meet'n'greet with his audience, so we'll see.
