Now I know the board is rather small at the moment, but we are talking about a NEW TULL RECORD people!
It appears to be for real this time. Ian's got studio time set aside for Jan. and Feb. So it looks like end of 2010 would work.
And don't forget to tell your friends that you heard here first! ;D

The recent pattern has been solo albums paired with Tull albums, followed by five or so years of touring on the two releases. To wit: Roots to Branches and Divinities in 1995; Dot Com and SLOB in 1999; Rupi and X-mas album in 2003. Dare we hope for two releases next year, one by Ian and one by Tull??? If so, that would be a flood to make up for the seven year drought. Jeff

Unless Ian was to do something radically different like WITL/DIVINITIES (SLOB or RUPI are not this) I do not see the point in an Ian Anderson solo album. Emi know Jethro Tull as a brand is stronger and in many ways I hope Ian isn't left to his devices. I think his best work has been in partnership with record company pressure.

I agree, although SLOB IMO is one of his best albums. But let's face it, he's poised for a return to the studio. He's got his new recording equipment and soon he'll have his record deal (if he doesn't have one already).

I too think SLOB is his best work to date but it wasn't radically different from what he does in Tull. Still even if EMI signs him up I'm not going to hold my breath. I don't think Ian is motivated by new material anymore.
