At last another addition to this thread. This time featuring the great Soft Machine. A band not normally associated with the use of the flute. An exception is their third CD which features some fluting from Lyn Dobson However check out this live performance from 1970.
Hope you enjoy it

I thought that I would post some live audio of the incredible Bob Downes to add to this thread
Big City Runaround
Journey With The Blues
Herbie
Enjoy this great player who along with Harold Mc nair was present in the London music scene in the sixties. I feel that Ian must have been aware of these players and may even have influenced him to some extent

I don't know much about Camel, but I do like this instrumental a lot, it's got a lot of flute throughout and Tull-ish rhythms.

I think I have exhausted the flute prog rock songs that I know are available on you tube. I will load some examples from my own collection. First up is Ipumo from Italian band Aria Palea.

Amazing songs your last ones, preston, very good flute progressive rock. What about this one, Preston? Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww, it sucked me as reflects its band name, hehehe. There's flute too then it matches in this thread, isn't it?

Here are a couple of performances from A 2 Sharp.
A 2 Sharp was a school band that was active about two years ago. Both tracks feature the flute and my youngest son on bass (then 14).

Fran Jethro a track dedicated to Tull by Steve Unruhs Resistor band
Steve Unruh is a great independent artist and well worth checking out. His website has lots of free MP3s on it
Resistor is his electric band , but Steve Unruhs solo material is worth buying. If you like Fran Jethro please support him by checking out his promo Mp3s His release The Great Divide is particularly good.

Here is a track that was discussed at length on a Tull discussion group, some years ago. Some people claimed that it was an early Tull recording and that Ian had given it to someone before a gig (if I remember correctly) at Norwich University in East Anglia . I am not sure if this was an elaborate hoax , the truth or a lie. Perhaps someone here will remember other details of the claim / story. I cannot recall the outcome of the discussion. Anyway I saved the two tracks as I kind of liked them. Here is one of them So far to go
Personally , I believe that its not Tull but I have no idea who this band might be ,anybody know ?

That's not bad, but it's certainly not Tull. It's vaguely reminiscent of, but far obviously inferior to, Witch's Promise. Definitely done by admirers of Tull, maybe even an early Tull tribute band who did a "Tull-inspired" original song. Jeff
