Former Fylde Coast rock legend Ian Anderson will be performing The Christmas Jethro Tull at three special charity gigs in cathedrals this December.
Tickets for the first of the festive nights to be held at Canterbury Cathedral sold-out instantly and will feature a one-off legendary line-up with Ian joined by Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) and Justin Hayward (Moody Blues) helping raise funds towards conservation, education, music and craftsmanship at Canterbury Cathedral.
By popular demand the Jethro Tull frontman is now set to play two further shows (without Bruce and Justin) at Salisbury and Manchester Cathedrals on December 16 and 19.
Tickets for the Manchester date – in support of the Manchester Cathedral Development Project – are available now via www.musicglue.net/iananderson priced at £21.50 and £15.50.
“There has never been anything like this in the Cathedral before,” said The Dean of Manchester, The Very Reverend Rogers Govender. “We are delighted that Ian will be performing in the run-up to Christmas and I am particularly pleased that all income derived from this event will go towards supporting our music education with choristers and our efforts to establish a new organ for this medieval church.”
Ian says of the shows: “Whether your Christmas is a secular affair of gift-giving and family togetherness or a more worshipful recognition of one of the two big days in the Christian calendar, join us for some uplifting Christmas spirit, music, readings and maybe even a prayer or two.”
Next week EMI Records will release a 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of the band’s seminal album Aqualung. This deluxe set will be released in a hardback book format and comes complete with all new mixes and previously unreleased material. To date the original album has sold in excess of 15 million copies worldwide and this new 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition boasts all-new stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes. The package contains a 12”x12” 48-page hardback book featuring liner notes by Dom Lawson, a new interview with Ian Anderson, memoirs from band members and a Q&A with engineer John Burns, all presented in a hardback slipcase.
The book contains a heavyweight vinyl LP, 2 CDs – new Aqualung stereo mix and additional 1970 and 1971 recordings plus previously unreleased stereo mixes – along with DVD and Blu-Ray albums mixed to 5.1 surround sound (with four additional recordings).
In addition to the Collector’s Edition there will also be a 2CD Special Edition containing CD1 & CD2 plus a 36-page booklet, all housed in a digipack sleeve.
