Good Day Folks, Apologies if this has been discussed already, but though Id mention that the upcoming Aqualung release is expected to include outtakes from the original recording sessions. Here's a link to a recent interview where Ian mentions the newly discovered tapes.
Best Regards, Kenny

I know Ian Anderson has something of a fierce reputation and his ex-bandmates don't always have nice things to say about him, but in interviews he seems like a really nice guy. He always seems like he's just having a chat with the interviewer, not holding forth from a seat on high. I love how he asks the interviewer where he's from and reflects on the area.

Incredible news that Steven Wilson is working with Ian Anderson and doing 5.1 mixes of at least Aqualung and TAAB. Trust me, these will be the best sounding Tull discs ever!

I'm praying this remaster has the following:
Dr Bogenbroom For later Up the pool Wondring again Nursie Life is a long song(remix) Teacher(MU version)
These songs have never made it to a remaster yet. Would love to hear quad versions of the whole album too. Realistically this should be a double cd.

i am hoping that the unreleased tracks will include a demo of the composition which included aspects of loco breath but was part of a much longer cycle of tunes

Well, this is all well and good, and honestly I am really looking forward to hearing 5.1 versions of Lung and Brick. But whatever happened to NEW material?? We sure have gone through a lot of remastering and remaking of the old stuff over the past decade or so (they've even totally re-made Aqualung before a small live audience a couple of years ago). I think a production of NEW MATERIAL is terribly long overdue, but maybe that's just me. Heck, I even think an album comprised of all of the little improvs they've come up with for solos during live shows would be a very nice project...you know, all of those little transitional bits they've made up over the years to lead-in to one song from another...the album could be titled "Transitions".

I know how you feel about re-releasing the old titles over and over but what makes this different from the countless remasters is that this stuff is being remixed by Steven Wilson from the original multitracks. Steven Wilson's production work is by far the best I have heard ever. This is also the first true 5.1 mix for Tull! If you've ever heard Wilson's 5.1 mixes with his own band Porcupine Tree or his King Crimson 5.1 mixes you will know the sound quality is absolutley stunning! Those of you who don't have a 5.1 system I recommend you invest in one. You will have never heard Aqualung like this. And I have heard it at least a billion times. And also newly discovered unreleased tracks from this era! Trust me, if Steven Wilson (a huge Tull fan) is working with Ian there will be more stuff to come and if he's in control of production it will be well worth the purchase. Anyway I think there is a new album coming along by next year.

Yes, word is there should be a new Tull record out in April of 2012. Obviously, that remains to be seen.

Yes, word is there should be a new Tull record out in April of 2012. Obviously, that remains to be seen. I think the big announcement is going to be multi-faceted, consisting of many different things, some of which has already been announced (Aqualung re-mix, full Brick tour, etc.) and some other things that have not been announced. For instance, I strongly believe that the announcement will reveal the forthcoming release of two new studio records, one Tull, one solo, or perhaps a double album of new material. Dual releases has been the pattern since 1995, and it would be a huge and very pleasing surprise to fans. It feels to me that there will be a lot of publicity regarding the upcoming plans, something akin to the year that COAK came out, or the big year in 1993, I think, when there were so many releases, such as the box set, the Rocks on the Road single, Nightcap, etc. We're about to witness a Tull renaissance.
