I never know the difference in the mixes. I just don't listen that close. Most of the time I listen to music in the car, so any subtleties are lost in the engine noise.

The original Aqualung mix actually was not great according to Ian. Lots of technical problems while recording. The difference here from other remixes though is definetly that Steven Wilson is doing the work. For those of you not familiar with his production you wont understand. His work is really unbeleivable. He has an amazing ear for what sounds good and has extensive knowledge of the latest mixing technology, plugins, and loves Tull, etc. You will notice a difference with his mix! That being said I will buying this for the outake stuff and most of all the SW 5.1 mix which will be like hearing Aqualung for the first time again.

Ian's hinted for years (and more recently) about adding a live concert download feature to the website. If other bands who have blazed the "download" trail are making money at it, I could see Ian jumping on board - I kind of doubt that will be the surprise but I would be delighted.

I enjoy anything to do with this album which will never grow old. To make a classic like this even better is hard to do. I really would like to see another picture disc which came out during 1996. They got gobbled up before I realized what was worth getting. Silly me. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Are there any left for my Tull Cave? Mr Anderson thinks we are stupid. Reissue the same thing 35 times and the foolish punters will keep buying it. Jethro Tull's output is starting to remind one of "Sir Harry Lauder's Final Farewell Performance."

Sometimes it's just about money, other times it reconnects people to something they feel compelled to have in a new way. The record business has got us figured out, so I can't blame anyone but me. If I want it bad enough, it will be waiting for me to spend whatever I can afford. I realize how everybody likes a good remake, just like "Planet of the Apes".

I just love those colorful promos. I sometimes miss those too. My mind sees in color even when I sleep. Thanks for the thread.

If you know the difference some re-released things are actually worth re-buying. (I think some of us deserve an upgrade price though) Stuff like the Passion Play gold original master recording for example. I have never heard acoustic guitars sound so good! The quality of the sound to me is very important and if they can make the original sound alot better with new technology and original tapes I am ready and waiting. Anything mixed by Steven Wilson is like gold and nobody should be be complaining about a SW 5.1 mixed Tull release. This is going to sound incredible!! and the bonus stuff will be worth ther price alone. Many best of's and remastered cd's are BS but this one is the real deal!

I'm in for the surround sound (quad or 5.1). The blu-ray is for me. I'm not interested in the vinyl at this point. There's always hope for an improvement in the remix & original mix. Fingers crossed. The one I worship, speaking of that gold APP, much praise here. The sound! the sound! that defines Jethro Tull is found here. Wonderful, wonderful. I'm deliberately communicating in an unfocused or imprecise way. - only me
