It sucked.
Sorry, even with the intervention of Slash (of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver) and Usher, this was, without a doubt, the worst halftime show ever put on. Evidently, rather untalented folk (The Black Eyed Peas) prancing aimlessly back and forth on stage warbling Ebonics along with preprogrammed karaoke machines in a vague semblance of lyrical aptitude is what goes for music these days.
If I were the NFL, I would demand my money back. Flashing lights and sparkly suits do not make up for lack of musical talent.
P.S. And Christine Aguilera botching the Star-Spangled Banner makes this Super Bowl the worst ever from a performance standpoint. I know Marvin Gaye is dead, but I would've preferred a video replay of his version (or Hendrix's, for that matter) to Aguilera's weak attempt at a capella.

I would rather watch a high school marching band play than the Black Eyed Peas. As for Aguilera, she should be ashamed of herself. It wasn't like they asked her last minute to sing; She had time to practice. She was so into her yodeling and howling she forgot the words. A lot of people defended her saying it's a hard song to sing. Crap. I can sing it. It won't be in tune but at least I know the words.

Yes, the entire entertainment aspect sucked.
I really don't like when these singers change the National Anthem that drastically. So when Cristina started yodeling I just got up and got something to eat.
The Peas were crap too. If a band has to play someone elses songs in a 15 minute set, perhaps they really don't belong there in the first place.

I was up in Birmingham [our 2nd city] overnight with my brother and a mate and we took advantage of the liberty pass to go out on the town, and then get back to watch the game live.
The worst part as you say was the half time, and I use the word loosely, 'show'.
Almost, but not quite, as bad as the NFL Wembley game last year when Jeff Beck slaughtered our national anthem.
We let CA off at the time because we were a little p155ed sorry, pissed, and thought that we may have mistakenly accredtied the noise made by the cat that had just been runn over outside to her.....now I know the truth.
The beer, curry and the 3.00 am finish did little to enhance my work abilities the next day.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I saw the half time show as the pinnacle of human artistic creation. No doubt it was at least a religious experience to some of the people who saw it, and a total spiritual enlightenment to most of the people who watched.
Then again, I'm not too surprised at the criticism. Spiritual evolution can take a devastating toll on an individual, and the egotistic self commonly puts forth a defense mechanism of denial.
Don't worry--it'll pass soon.
