I can't express how much joy I get from this group of wonderful people. It is annoying for me to not be able to share my deep love for this band with as many people as I would like, in the fleshy world... Everyone I introduce to J-Tull seems to acknowledge their talents but never seems to become as fascinated with them as myself. I had been feeling lost for so long and was finally welcomed to a place where people are just as insane for the Tull as I am... and even more - which I respect, greatly. Just thought you all should know that I love you.... and I don't care who knows it! If you love the Tull, than I love you! And y'all should feel pretty darn special, in that case

As someone who grew up in a time where Tull was not especially appreciated I can relate. I used to become sad thinking I was one of the few who were moved by this music. It is good to know that Tull is not only remembered, but discovered anew by generations to come.

And y'all should feel pretty darn special, in that case Thats quite a nice sentiment Angela, I have to say I often feel the same way (about being in a place that shares my affliction) I often wonder about being of a younger age and discovering Tull at a later date, though still one of the most different kind of bands as ever was, not quite as fashionable as they once were. You, like Kai here, must have some pretty good radar. I've gone from seeing a "very popular" wild assed one of a kind acts with a great cool name to become "the biggest band in the world" to slowly sliding off the playlist bit by bit and year by year. Once in a while, later on, when being excited at just scoring some tickets to see my favorite band, someone would say "wow, are they still around?"......bet your ass. So it's been interesting to have ridden the arc. Many here became fans in the 70s and we came to it pretty easily, BECAUSE Tull were so popular. Everywhere you turned, Tull was around, in record stores and on the radio, on at a friends house, or a party...... where as someone such as yourself may have had dig a little deeper to find some of the hidden treasures. And maybe I wouldn't really bet anybodys ass these days.... hahaha it IS pretty cool to connect with some folks that are just as stubborn and nuts about one of the most unique talents to grace a stage or record a tune. Glad you found Tull and the board (and recognized our specialness!) Welcome. Darin Cody

What I enjoy about this place is that we have the full diverse range of Tull fans, criticism is meant and mostly taken as constructive and not damaging, normally no offense offered and no offense taken, we all have a view and are pretty much free to express it. I suppose that's what you get from real Tull fans across the board, tulling it like it is.

Very sweet of you Angela. Being a Tull fan can become awkward in public at times. If you wear a Tullshirt, people look at you like you must be very old or very high. I guess I've gotten used to it. If you wear an Ian Anderson shirt they say "Wow, who is that?". As I have learned over the years, Tull is all of the above. Every show is special no matter who is playing as long as Ian can still play his flute. We have different opinions about what is to be called Tull, but for me this is just as Tull now as it was in 1973. Let's Rock !

Tull and IA have been special to me my entire life, and most of the people I know don't get it. I say I've been to 25 shows and they say "You're obsessed!" Little do they know there are some fans who have seen five to ten times as many concerts. Anyway, it is always good to connect with other Tull fans, as they (we) are a special group. AND one of the things I like about us is that we are a diverse bunch. Every fan seems to like something different about the music, and that is more refreshing than chatting with fans of something whose opinions just blend together into a cloud of sameness. Er...Yay for US! ;D

Your feelings of joy, fascination and wonder upon discovering the magic of Tull remind me of exactly what I felt as a teenager. It's funny because you said your dad introduced you to Tull, and that's exactly what I am trying to do now with my ten year old, all these years later! How is your flute-playing coming along? Jeff

I'm in Vancouver, British Columbia! The flute-playing is coming along slowly, but I am getting better. I would love to play it everyday all day, but there just isn't enough time!
Jeff, be sure to show your kid lots of early Tull videos, those scared the hell out of me.. His big eyes were so open and trusting... hahaha. It's enough to seduce even the stubbornest of lads.

Agree with a lot of the posts on this thread. It can be tuff being a tull fan. They had mass appeal beginning with Aqualung for a little over ten years, but frankly they began as an underground band and they're an underground band today. Not sure what my point is, other than...well, repeat after me: All Hail The Mighty Tull!!

I agree with what you say, Tull is under the radar nowadays, and often laughed at, but fortunately there are plenty of people who love the band spanning generations--young and old and (mostly) in the middle. All Hail Tull!! Tull lives!!!

Yeah, more or less I found the tapes and CDs in my dad's collection, I had heard the Aqualung album at someone's house and it sparked my interest, I was into all sorts of bands back then on and off, and still am, but Tull was a fairly consistent interest. Still is I suppose

Not everyone gets it. Like when I first met TM, and Dan...I was thinking OK, this could be weird...Nope! Instant best friends. Lol. Tull07, I think it was you mentioning people looking at you weird, for some reason that's always happened to me. I've heard a lot of 'you don't look like the kind of person who would like Tull.' Oh okay. Then when I met IA he also didn't believe it. Its definitely been an experience!

It is hard sometimes for my friends and family to understand my love of Tull music. I think it was those 70s 80s concerts that cemented it for me. Ian is by far the best front man I have ever seen live. No one plays an electric the same way Martin does! It just used to connect with me. Still does!

Quality music is meant for eveyone not just us Hard Core Over 50 guys. The thing is how you are wired (not weird). Some people can listen to Tull for a few minutes only. I like the longer pieces even more than the short ones. That may make me seem weird to some.
