"Overnight it snowed, and it snowed and it snowed.....and then it snowed some more".; - this line from your first piece reminded me of that literary colossus Roger Hargreaves and his fine canon of work -the Mr Men books, not to forget the Little Miss books although I've yet to delve into those old texts. I could hear the voice of the late Arthur Lowe as I read that line above. heehee. Brian, I think my old English teacher would love you for comparing my writing with Roger Hargreaves, but I'm not sure if I should take that as prais eor not .......There are other 'author's' I would have preferred...but then again I suppose Mr Hargreave's series of books left him relatively well respected and very rich. and I'd be happy if some one of Arthur Lowe's calibre was to turn many of our extended pieces into audio books. ;D Pat, Oh no, I wasn't comparing your writing to Roger Hargreaves at all. Just that one line you wrote, "Overnight it snowed, and it snowed and it snowed.....and then it snowed some more". If your writing overall was in the style of Roger Hargreaves it would have been considerably more minimalist and we wouldn't have enjoyed your splendidly detailed write-up! Thanks again. A testament to the well-known professionalism of IA and co. that despite two of the performers not being able to make it, Florian catching a flight with only '12 seconds to spare' and Greg Lake not even having time to soundcheck that the show was such a success. Very unfortunate Anna Phoebe could not attend to play at the Cathedral - I see she posted on her twitter page on Saturday; "Chatted to Ian Anderson-gutted not to make Canterbury .Instead, listening to Stairway to Heaven'-complete with recorder!"Perhaps all of these stressful conditions gave the playing an edge and extra power? Great to hear IA's voice was in top form.

Thanks Pat sounds like a great adventure, Ian sounded great on the December 9th show as well, strong vocals. It must have been great to see Ian and company and most of the special guest in that setting. Thanks for the great write up as well. Charlie

Pat, many thanks, you made it happen and quick. Every tull fan on this board expected some review of that wonderful performance in Canterbury though not the so extended you exposed like. With your great effort i take for granted that it`s worth belonging to this board. Excellent review

Warning of another Christmas quiz....
Yet another Christmas quiz or two or three, [who knows, how many!] in the offing.
This one will feature as a prize a programme and tee shirt from Ian's Christmas show at Canterbury. The question will be up in the next few days, in the meantime......
This is a public service announcement on behalf of The Canterbury Gift.
Did you want to go to Canterbury?
Did you try to go to Canterbury and was snowed off?
Still want to help the Canterbury Gift?
Our 'special relationship' with The Canterbury Gift has allowed us to get first access to the remaining tee-shirts and programmes from the show and we would like to offer the few remaining tees for £10 each [the original cost] plus P&P [ALL with all proceeds from the £10 going to 'The Canterbury Gift']. I better emphasise that the board or any member of the board will NOT make a penny on this, this is for Charity! - If you want to pay more as a donation I'm sure that 'The Gift' would gratefully appreciate and accept it!
Contact me via PM, an I'll see what can be done to accommodate you. Please remember there will be a shipping/postage charge, and this will be at the charged cost for shipping, I'll pick up the packing charges.

Not the greatest quality, but here's a couple of 'Christmassy' highlights from the Canterbury gig.
Ian Anderson and Friends - We 5 Kings with the Lay Clerk Choir of Canterbury Cathedral
Ian Anderson and Friends - Canterbury Cathedral - Ian reading from LUKE
All the best to you and yours this Christmas.

Hi Folks,
A couple of apologies, not been around due to flu so I missed out on the Board's Christmas and New Year's Party celebrations.
Wish you all and your families a great new year, I may be late but I am sincere!
and finally apologies I had planned to do a Christmas quiz with some goodies from the Canterbury gig, it will still happen, but a little later than originbally planned. I hope to have it ready for next week if this flu lets up enough.
I hope that all our friends who are coping with excessive snow in the US, water shortages in Northern Ireland, floods in Austrailia and any late New Year hangovers are doing OK.
Normal service will be resumed ASAP, flu willing.

Wow, the Canterbury Cathedral Christmas Gig sounds like it was fantastic. Now why wasn't it recorded in HD? It looks like it would have made a nice BluRay/DVD/CD release.

We had a lot of rain, but no flooding here. However much of rural Queensland is affected by flooding. A few years ago we had water shortages! G

Thanks Pat for the videos, I hope you are feeling better Thanks Charlie, still on the tail end of it, but much better than I was last week... A few more video snippets to come, but in the meantime here are a couple of photo's from the night taken by Martin Webb who has kindly allowed us to post them here. He asked me to stress though that these were taken with his compact camera and not his 'proper' professional gear, hence the quality. Still, I'm grateful that he let us have them to show them here, if only to record Ian's festive headgear for posterity so, thanks Martin. Great photos, Pat, they seem pretty professional to me. Thanks to Martin for supplying them!
Glad you're feeling a little better now, after that prolonged and miserable flu.

How killer that night had to be, Pat. You were so lucky attending the show at that impressive building and at that snowy climate outside, it worthed the efforts you made and that you explained here days ago. The pics are good enough to be able to think how it was like. And liked too the tube despite the difficulty of recording. Look forward the second part of the tube. Thanks a lot for posting.

Greg Lake performing 'Lucky Man' with Ian and his band at Ian's show at Canterbury Cathedral.
.
Help request - If anyone knows how to re-orientate a video taken on an i-phone let me know via PM. I have a few other tracks, including Aqualung, but the image for some reason kicked over to be 90 degress out. [not that that makes much difference as the video quality is not that hot, but it would be good to have it the right way up!]

Great photos and video clips. Many thanks for sharing! Totally agree about the sound - excellent. I wish I could have gone to this concert. If there is another one this year I'll be pulling out all the stops to go. Brian.
