With slight lyrical modifications, here's a 'preliminary' version of the tune that I recorded last night, and thank you in advance for the feedback (as well as a thank you for the existing feedback).

That's excellent, Kevin, sweet melody and very nicely sung. I like the inspiring message of "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, climb up on that horse....try again", which seems especially fitting in these trying times. Have a great Thanksgiving! Jeff

A new song I wrote a couple of weeks back. I'll Be Your Friend You said that you loved me, then you told me goodbye You said "Never leave me", but now you're making me cry We've still got a long way to go, what tomorrow brings, nobody knows Please, don't let this just love end, I'll stand beside you, and I'll always hold you I'll be your friend When I lay beside you, I'd reach out to touch you But now those nights will never come again Left standing here waiting, all these doubts in my mind And contemplating why you left me behind We've still got a long way to go, what tomorrow brings, nobody knows Please, don't let this just love end, I'll stand beside you, and I'll always hold you I'll be your friend Come the morning, I will still be here Let me allay your fears, and wipe your tears away And though the mountains, they wash away, dear I'll always long for you like I long for the break of day We've still got a long way to go, what tomorrow brings, nobody knows Please, don't let this just love end, I'll stand beside you, and I'll always hold you I'll be your friend 10-10-11 Really nice, Kevin, good simple rhymes, effective lyrics and strong vocals which reminds me of a popular artist -- I think maybe the Hootie and the Blowfish guy. I didn't realize you met someone at that Morristown show when we met you....sorry it didn't work out in the long run. Have you heard of a singer/songwriter Grant Lee-Phillips? I think you'd really like him. Jeff

I didn't realize you met someone at that Morristown show when we met you....sorry it didn't work out in the long run. Have you heard of a singer/songwriter Grant Lee-Phillips? I think you'd really like him. Jeff I didn't actually meet her at the concert, we had met shortly prior to that show, she almost broke up with me then because some random girl at the pub flashed me that night after the concert. Oh well, things happen, life goes on. I got some good songs and memories from the relationship. When 'Cracked Rearview' first came out, some of my friends thought it was me, so apparently I sound like a black guy from the south who sounds like a white guy from the north. This one in particular has the same G D C progression as 'Let Her Cry' - I experimented with changing the key to make it a bit more distinct but I like it in this key so I'll keep it there for the time being. And mine tune has an Am in it, so TAKE THAT Darius! Thank you all for the positive feedback. I've got a couple other tunes that I've yet to upload, but I'll post them once I have. I'm working on putting together an album, but it's still in the planning stage. I'll keep you updated. Cheers!

This is a somewhat finalized version of a tune that I wrote last week, complete with hat and glasses for my 'Old Blind Darby' schtick.
I think I may have plagiarized myself a bit in this one because I have this vague feeling of having used some of the lyrics in other, earlier songs and it's similar to a couple of other ones that I've written, but in any event here it is:
Back Where We Started
It's gonna be a long, long time Before we're back where we started I need to ease my troubled mind My heart has lost a home But there are days in this life and paths we all walk alone
Words better off never said Carved in memory's stone Too hard to forget Forgiveness, now gone cold Losses and regrets More than you could know
It's gonna be a long, long time Before we're back where we started I need to ease my troubled mind My heart is far from home But there are days in this life and paths we all walk alone
Wounds so slow to heal Scars that will not fade Approaching the unreal Long for better days Said what I do not feel Now, can't be erased
It's gonna be a long, long time Before we're back where we started I need to ease my troubled mind My heart has lost a home But there are days in this life and paths we all walk alone But there are days in this life and paths we all walk alone There are days in this life and paths we must walk alone

I don't know if there are any Grateful Dead fans on the board, but if there are one of the playlists that I've made recently is videos from the Dark Star Orchestra show that I saw on New Year's Eve. I've got a few more songs to upload from the show yet, but they were fantastic - it was like seeing the Dead, and one of the sets that they did was from a show I was at back in '89. Here's the link for anyone whose interested: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5D7090D03EC94667&feature=plcp

Something new that I'm working on. An early 'studio' mix that I did last night.
Day Will Come Again
Sun is shining, still I feel them cold winds blow Keep on climbing, days come and then they go I can see the sunrise, I know where I just been No need to look behind me to know day will come again Day will come again
It's all so simple if you just look at it right Joys and sorrows, sure as day embrace the night I can see the sunrise, I know where I just been No need to look behind me to know day will come again Day will come again
Sun is shining, still I feel them cold winds blow Keep on climbing, days come and then they go I can see the sunrise, I know where I just been No need to look behind me to know day will come again Day will come again Day will come again

Thanks for listening, I'm going do do a more polished version of if but even the quick and dirty one I was pretty happy with for a jaunty little tune.

I deleted this from youtube because I have a couple of uploads I want to add before my 100th upload which is fast approaching.
I'd like the 100th upload for a music video that I'm working on for one of my songs.
I'll post updates as they are available.

Thanks, that's nice of you to say.
I kind of think it's a bit crap but compared to some of other versions it's almost acceptable.

This is from a show in the city that I went to on Friday. The song is based on the Edgar Allen Poe poem of the same name.

I'll have more originals posted soon.

This is an alternate take of my song in a different key. My friend thought it was more suited to my voice.

Thanks for the feedback, kind words and for listening.
I think that I'm happier with the second version as well. I'm slowly putting together 'studio' versions of these and other songs and I may have one or two 'proper' music videos on the way. I'll keep you folks updated.
Cheerio!

Thanks Derek(and everyone else whose taken the time to listen and/or post a response). I wrote this one about a year ago, but hadn't uploaded a video of it, so I did a quick take of it yesterday.
Thanks again for watching/listening. Fullfrontalbuddha (currently in disguise as Baker St. Muse)
Wear My Coat
I look into your eyes And see you smiling back at me Your contented sighs Let me know your heart is free Come and walk the miles Or lay here in my arms It ain't about your wiles Certainly ain't about my charm
Honey, won't you wear my coat? Darling, won't you take my ring? I want to be the one I want to be your everything I'll catch you when you're falling Pick you up when you are down Baby, don't you hear me calling? I hope you'll always be around
When I hear you call my name I know the man I want to be I'll never do you wrong, girl Your heart is safe with me I watch your silhouette as you're sleeping by my side I know for sure that I want you by and by
Honey, won't you wear my coat? Darling, won't you take my ring? I want to be the one I want to be your everything I'll catch you when you're falling Pick you up when you are down Baby, don't you hear me calling? I hope you'll always be around I hope you'll always be around

Foolish Mortals - new collaboration that I've been working on for the last month or so. We haven't spent too much time on our originals yet, since we'll need some "core" covers for most gigs, but that's in the works as well.
As always, thanks for watching/listening and any feedback is appreciated. Cheers
