I have gone ahead and taken the liberty of posting our friend Kevin's rendition of In Air the Tonight here on our site, mainly because I think it's freakin' great!
When we met him at Morristown, he told us he had a good singing voice.....and he was right!
Jeff
P.S. Hope you don't mind, Kevin.

Nope, don't mind at all, and thank you. I'm glad you liked it.
I haven't uploaded any of my originals to my youtube page yet, but if anyone is interested in hearing some of the stuff that I have done, I have them on my myspace page - myspace.com/fullfrontalmusic
I've got some new songs, so I think I might post one I just wrote a couple of weeks ago later this evening when I get home from work.

Thanks for the kind comments.
So, as promised, I've uploaded one of my originals. This is something I wrote a couple of years ago, and I think I recorded the video about a year ago. I normally don't repeat the first verse, but it was a fairly solid rendition of the song, so I've left it in.
I hope you like it, there will be more to come once I've gotten a chance to upload additional videos.
And while the lyrics aren't extensive, nor difficult to understand (at least so far as I can tell), here they are for reference.
Lyrics:
Days to Change
Waiting on days to change Things have gotten so damn strange As the years go passing by Ain't been home since can't say when It happened to me again Maybe by the morning light
Down so low, raised up high In the twinkling of an eye
So I'm waiting on days to change Things have gotten so damn strange As the years go passing by Still ain't been home since can't say when I'll make it back there again Maybe by tomorrow night
The path is broad, the future's wide Time once to come, now it's nigh
Waiting on days to change Things have gotten so damn strange As the years go passing by All these years keep passing by All these years slip-sliding by All these years keep passing by

And here's another cover of an Eagles tune that I just loved, so I felt compelled to learn it. Jeez, do I look tired and shiny, but the song came out fairly well.
Cheers!

Kevin, I thought both of those were really excellent. Days to Change is a very simple, yet beautiful song, and very well sung, and so is the Eagles song. I'm very pleased that this board has become a place where people feel comfortable posting their own music and art. It's exactly what we envisioned from the outset. I've really enjoyed watching your videos, Preston's boys, Kai Bailey, Sharkdaniel, whitershadepale (Kevin), frodohobbit (Craig), Paco, Andrea and all the tribute bands. And also Marcie and Paul, Guy, Gangsta Rabbi, Silverhamer, stjerky, Kimdemulder, Quizz, the list of musicians and artists we have here goes on and on, and that's just off the top of my head....please forgive me if I forgot to mention anyone. From the start we wanted to emphasize the fans' own unfettered and uncensored creativity, ideas, stories, thoughts and opinions, more so even than Tull, and I think we've accomplished that! And I also have to say that everybody here is doing a pretty damn good job of covering all aspects of Tull as well! Cheers to all members of The Jethro Tull Board! Jeff

Things crashed when I went to respond before, so once again thank you all. I'll upload more originals once I've gotten a chance, I have a few that I've recorded already and a couple of new ones I've yet to make videos of. And it's high time for me to do a Tull cover or two, so I'll see what I can pull out of my hat. And thanks to Preston for the Yoke Shire reference, as I hadn't heard them previously and I love finding new music to listen to. I find this to be an excellent forum, with a great group of artists, musicians and music fans and it's a great place to be while I should be working, but hey...I multitask.

I'm not sure about how this will work as far as embedding or what have you, but this is another one of my originals (an instrumental in this case, a bit Michael Hedges inspired) that I uploaded to my myspace page a number of years ago. I no longer have the original file and I haven't gotten around to ripping it from my myspace page. In any event, without further ado - Crystal Castles (& Wooden Dreams). www.myspace.com/video/vid/8235416

In any event, I will be listening to your new instrumental over the weekend....thanks for providing the link! Jeff

Howdy folks! Haven't gotten a chance to pop in for a while (slacking elsewhere on teh interwebz, and/or possibly actually doing work), but I wanted to poke my head in, so to speak.
I still haven't had a chance to upload more of my original stuff, but I've been to a couple more great concerts recently so I've posted a bunch of stuff on my youtube page.
For those of you who haven't heard of them already, Frontier Ruckus from Michigan are an excellent (IMO) band, with a phenomenal lyricist. This is a new song from the show I saw last weekend.
(I wasn't falling over drunk, I was being artsy with the camera angles)

So, I was cruising around on my youtube page and this was one of the recommendations, which is cool because I love seeing old interviews of musicians that I enjoy. Ian really despises hippies doesn't he? I wrote a new tune last week, and it has a bit of a...Celtic feel (perhaps). I'll upload and post it once I've given it a run through a few times.

So, here's an admittedly rough version of the new song that I mentioned. I recorded it on my phone and uploaded it straight to the tubes, so there's not really much in the way of editing.
It's just shy of a week old, so I'm still sort of working it out, but any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Black River Road
Born to this world a bastard’s boy, fair bet he'll swing as a highwayman* Never knew love, or an ounce of joy, so he hits the ground running just as fast as he can He hits the ground running as fast as he can Down on Black River Road, down on Black River Road
He was cursed and beaten more often than fed, forged and tempered by hate and pain Never knew better than this life he led, Pity never spoke his name Mercy never heard his name Down on Black River Road, down on Black River Road
He took what he needed and never looked back, infamy was his fame All that he saw was all he lacked, losses were his only gains Losses were his only gains Down on Black River Road, down on Black River Road
Live by the sword, maybe die by the knife - to this fate, born and bred When the Hangman’s noose ended his life, not a single tear was shed Not a single tear was shed, not a single tear was shed Down on Black River Road, down on Black River Road Down on Black River Road, down on Black River Road
K.S. Kinsella 06-24-11
*original line "Born to this world a bastard’s boy, swung from the gallows as a highwayman" changed per jrpipik's suggestion.

Great stuff! Maybe you should change the first verse so you don't give away the ending.

Hmmm, that's not a bad idea. I liked the line about swinging from the gallows, but I suppose that I could change it up a bit so that it's not a foregone conclusion.
I did want to do another take of it, and I think that I'll turn the phone on its side so that the video is in the appropriate aspect ratio for the tubes.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Cheers!

I haven't re-recorded the new song yet, but I'm thinking of the suggested lyric change, as well as a refrain of the first verse to end it. I'm also thinking that a fiddle part would work well with the 'feel' of the song. Now to find a fiddle player...
*Manifest the Goat came about as a joke amongst friends, it's still me. Just a new set of screen name garments akin to a spiffy new codpiece.

A new song I wrote a couple of weeks back.
I'll Be Your Friend
You said that you loved me, then you told me goodbye You said "Never leave me", but now you're making me cry We've still got a long way to go, what tomorrow brings, nobody knows Please, don't let this just love end, I'll stand beside you, and I'll always hold you I'll be your friend
When I lay beside you, I'd reach out to touch you But now those nights will never come again Left standing here waiting, all these doubts in my mind And contemplating why you left me behind We've still got a long way to go, what tomorrow brings, nobody knows Please, don't let this just love end, I'll stand beside you, and I'll always hold you I'll be your friend
Come the morning, I will still be here Let me allay your fears, and wipe your tears away And though the mountains, they wash away, dear I'll always long for you like I long for the break of day We've still got a long way to go, what tomorrow brings, nobody knows Please, don't let this just love end, I'll stand beside you, and I'll always hold you I'll be your friend

Thank you, I'm glad that you liked it I've got a couple more new ones that I haven't recorded 'properly' as of yet, but this is the newest one so I thought I'd share.
I suppose it's a bit obvious that it's a break-up song, but in a way it's appropriate that I'm posting it here, since I met her right before the Ian Anderson concert that I went to where I met the guys here on the board.
I'll post some more originals as they're available. Thank you for the kind feedback.

Alright, this one I still need to work the music out, but I wrote another new tune so the lyrics will be a placeholder until I've finished the song.
Try Again
So many burned down bridges All these closed up doors A long string of bad decisions I swore I'd never make no more
Pick myself up, dust myself off Get back on that horse again At first, if I don't succeed Try and try and try again
Tomorrow's another day One more chance to get things right Can't always have your way But that don't mean give up the fight
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off Get back on that horse again At first, if you don't succeed Try and try and try again
You've been down before So often, it seems like a second home Just when you think you can't take no more That's when you've got to keep pushing on
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off Climb back on your feet again Dry your eyes, don't shed no tears Ain't no losing if there ain't no winning At first, if you don't succeed Try and try and try again Try and try and try again
