About 9 million years ago or so, I saw my first Jethro Tull concert. Once I really got into them I started to become somewhat obsessed with what I call the greatest and most talented band to ever exist. I myself actually got a tattoo of the character off of the album Broadsword and the Beast. Years after I got the tattoo I actually got to meet Ian Anderson and got to show him the tattoo (which was based in looks around Ian). He was taken back a bit and stated "I bet that had to hurt." Does anyone else have any Jethro Tull tattoos? I'm curious to see what everyone else has gotten and decided to ink their bodies up with.

I guy I worked with had the same tat. Unfortunately I don't have any tatoos I can discuss on a family board.

You have to be a bit careful when doing this. I'm a pretty critical guy so there's a good chance I would not like what the artist had done. How about this? This is perfect for Southwest Airline's "Want to get away" commercials.

There was a four or five year period in the early 1990's where I saw about 25-30 shows. Somewhere here there is a thread entitled Tull Toll, or something like that, where we try to calculate how much dough we've spent on Tull over the years including albums, CDs, tickets, merchandise, conventions, and other incidental expenses, and I think I figured that I must have shelled out about 30 Large over the years. Welcome to The Jethro Tull Board fellow Tull fanatic! Good to have you with us. Jeff P.S. We've got at least one other Tull Tattoo thread here, maybe more. Here's one I found: thejethrotullboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=youtube&thread=537&page=1

I don't, but a Tull friend of mine, known as Big Dave, has many Tulltattooes, including Broadword and the Beast, Aqualung, a circular flute, and Stormwatch I think...I've thought about getting him to post photos of them----I'll work on seeing if he'll post them onto this board (not sure if he's a member yet) Mike

Those would be some cool tattoos to see, Icecreamman.
As much as I love Tull I don't think I could ever get a tattoo of them, though I totally understand why some would. I know that it's somewhat of a fashion statement in the motorhead fanbase to get a shitload of motorhead tattoos.
I have a friend who has lots of super mario bros. tattoos. It's sort of funny. And sort of weird.

I have tatoos as well. The worse mistake, I've made in my life. Listen to her Jim, it's not what it's cracked up to be. 12 going on 16. Such a rush to grow old and wise.

Would love to see pictures of your Tull tattoo. I thought I remember seeing a bunch of Tull tattoo pics on this board a few years ago... maybe it was on the other forum?

I have one lonely tat, but it's not Tull related. I don't think I would get something "brand" related i.e. band logo, sports team, motorcycle brand, etc.....although I think that the Warchild cover shot would make a pretty sick tattoo if you were so inclined.

O.M.G. Hot off Facebook! Wow...that looks like an image of Ian in the old old days. So that might make this a.............TRAMP STAMP?! I feel sorry for this young lady, she could probably use some help getting that off of there. Maybe a little baby oil and a lot of rubbing........ Darin "the volunteer" Cody

My best Tull buddy has the exact same Broadsword tattoo shown above on his upper left arm.

I just mentioned in another thread the tattoo thing. I couldn't decide between two tattoos. I almost had a Tull one done. Was thinking outline of IA and a line I like from APP.
I think I've told this story but what the hay...my tattoo artist is nothing short of amazing. He did a Broadsword tat on someone else, that seems to be a popular one...he also played the flute and admired IA. I ended up with a frog tattoo because it fit on my foot and I already had the left foot done and wanted them both done. Weird thing is, my frog reminds me of the Broadsword drawing, because its pose is similar, it has wings (called dragonfroggy by original artist) instead of sword, it's a a blade of grass. And it's just a coincedence. Kind of neat. I'm still up for getting a Tull one if I could.

Jen is practically jumping out of her skin about seeing my tattoo, it's still kind of smeary, extra ink and medication, and everything is still on it, and I can't scrub it, so I wanted to wait, but I'll put it here now. My artist for one, actually likes Tull, when I told him what I was getting, he pulled out his flute and started to play Bouree. He's a huge biker guy probably my dad's age and he said he was told to play the flute because he has a huge space between his teeth and they told him when he was young that would help him play well. That being said he was concerned about the line I wanted to use. He was afraid that it wouldn't be understood, people would think that there are mistakes here and that I would get tired of explaining it so I'd just tell people, "Yeah, my artist messed up." and blame it on him. There's been a few other people worried about the grammar of this line but I refused to change it, keep it like it is, please! I don't care if it doesn't make sense to others. Still, this is a "What did I just do?" moment. haha. I wanted to thank Steve and others for helping me figure it all out as well. And Dan for trying to talk me out of it. haha.

I like it and the design is very nice, glad you didn't change the wording, who cares that people have to ask you, its what you want.

Thanks, I didn't bother posting to Facebook or anything because most won't get it. ha.
I think I'm having a weird reaction to the ink, but hopefully it will go away, I'll take some Benadryl tonight.
