I can't even imagine what that would be like. My life would have been very different, and a lot less fun. This music, these lyrics course through my soul and help me make sense of this world. Tull music seems like it belongs in the natural order of things, like the sun, the planets and the birds in the sky. The songs are like miracles and proof that God exists, because what else other than God-given talent can explain the ability to create what Ian has created? How do you suppose your life would be different if there were no Tull?

Good topic. When I first heard Aqualung in 1971, I knew Tull was something special. So much more interesting and unique than the other big British bands (Stones, The Who, Zeppelin) of the time. Musically, I would say with no Tull, I probably wouldn't have ventured too far from The Beatles. That is until maybe punk rock appears in 1976 or so. The Beatles (to me) are in a category by themselves.

Well, without the whimsical and wonderful lyrics of Jethro Tull, I would not have as much of an understanding as I do about life in general. Also there would be a large gap of musical interest and appreciation in my life.

This is nearly a mystic topic.Probably J.T music and my lifestyle have been met from always. That's why i appreciate so much the lyrics, the express concepts, all that kind of music transmits.Even I.A personality shows "normality".For instance he is a very rich man,and an hard worker.I'm sure he also care a lot his Fans, very few rock stars are still on stage at that age nine months every year :My life without Tull would had not been much different but is improved and enriched enormously and theirs message helps me A LOT thinkin about life.to approach problems. In few words:IT IT MUCH BETTER THEY EXIST!! :)It is in the natural order of things.....Thanks to them, really.

Without Tull I would never have met my best friends, I would not know so many lovely people and interesting places all over the world.
Here´s a story to proof that Tull fans are a worldwide family.
My best friend Ollie, a british actor now working for the BBC, planned a trip to Australia on his own. He wanted to travel all over the place for 6 weeks - alone. Some days before the trip started he got a bit nervous, because he did not know anybody down under. He called me and asked: "Do you know somebody in Australia?" I said: "Yes, I never met this guy, but he is a Tull fan and I have his email address." I gave it to Ollie and he contacted John, saying who he was, who gave him the address and if John could answer some questions Ollie had about travelling the country.
2 days later he got an answer from John, who lives in Sydney. John asked at what time Ollie would arrive.
When Ollie arrived at the airport, John was there waiting for him. He took Ollie to his house, where Ollie was invited to stay as long as he wanted. Then he handed Oliie over to another Tull fan, who lived somewhere else. This guy handed Oliie over to his cousin in another part of the country.
To make a long story short: Ollie travelled all over Australia, met lovely people, saved a lot of money and had a fantastic time.
Btw: Ollie is no Jethro Tull fan ;D

hi, well said fatman, i for one would not have a main hobby as well loving all things tull , it just mystifies me how anyone can produce such lyrics ( without ever takin a drug !! ) everytime i go on holiday to the likes of tenerife , malta, germany, greece, i wear a tull t-shirt and always make friends due to wearing the shirts i am not lookin forward to that ending day it will be a sad day . i think we all including myself relive our younger days through a lot of tull cus you always remember an early tour/1st time seen etc etc. but who could have imagined it would go on now for over 40yrs ? inc ian i bet he dident think it possible and probably just looked for the next booking , although i like a day out travelin to the shows i wish he would just slow them down a little and make some fresh music/songs we all must have listened a thousand times + to the old ones .

I know what you mean, Jim. Tull has been such a big part of my live too, ever since I was 15. No way I'd be the same guy if Tull did not exist. Jeff

Ditto that for me...I've had other musical passions, favorite groups, admired singer/songwriters...but never anyhting close to Tull as an all encompassing inspiration and, as i have mentioned before, lucid proof that i was sent to the right planet at the right time by whomever is in charge of such matters.

Well, there really hasn't been a Tull for the past 11 years. (or even the last 20 yrs., since their vocalist withered away............)

In the old days there was just Jethro Tull, but during the last 10 years or so it's like there have been Multiple Mini-Tulls....very confusing these days as to what is, or is not, Tull, or whether Tull still exists at all. When you think about it, what we've had lately is a lot of stuff by Ian without Martin. Jeff

What if Tull didn't exist? I'd have more time to listen to Pink Floyd-Led Zeppelin-The Beatles-The Rolling Stones-The Guess Who-Neil Young-Paul McCartney-Wings-Moody Blues-Yes-Supertramp... ;D Tull saved my soul.

how many bands/musicians could turn there music into the likes of what ian has done ? can you imagine mick jagger doin same thing ? or u2 ? i know tull havent been the " same " for years but at least its still around maybe not in the same format but to change and still keep people interested with the likes of rubbin elbows gigs and orchestral shows is pure genius, he sure cant just be doin it for the money todo all that travelin etc . i made the decision just to take it for what it is now and enjoy whilst its still goin and ive had over a good 40 years to try and find another band like them , but never have !!.

I think music as we know would be VERY empty and really boring. It would all sound the same with very few bands experimenting in different sounds and and layers of music(Pink Flyod the exception). There would be a tremendous void not filled without Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull. Me personally I would be rich beyond my means. As having devoting I can't say thousands of dollars on Tull records to concert tickets in 38 + years. But its is worth every cent I ever spent. It is like a warm blanket cold night, Or a single malt by the fire side, there is nothing like it. The best way to show it is not to many bands have ever copied the style of Jethro Tull and made to the pinnacle.
