Hi friends. There is a question i wanted to subject to your attention, too.A dangerous one to make to such faithful and old Fans as we are .Sometime i'm in hard discord to SOME other friends from Italian Forum which i believe exaggerate with heavy critics towards our favourite's group whole directory, but maybe i'm wrong and they are ok.The question is:do you think they really are some very ugly, hard to listen,in few words rubbish songs or instrumental pieces in this directory?(They used another word to describe... )I counted nearly 40 in the list i read.

Umm, well, if you mean are there songs that hard core fans do not like then yes. But that is ok, just because you don't like a song doesn't mean it is rubbish, just not to your taste.

Of course even an hard core fan could some songs find not to his taste. They are some i don't like, too. The exaggeration is to find quite bad 40

I can only think of a handful of songs that I really do not like or won't listen to.

I kinda dig the idea...if i understand correctly, of the Itullian fans making a 'directory'...like in the old days when the Pope/church made a lsit of forbidden literature and other sacriligeous stuff like art works and plays. My Tull 'directory' would not run to 40...but i could com e up with a dirty dozen or so (let's leave instrumentals out' ) that should be forbidden. the live and studio lists would differ...some good songs have been played to death.

Lets kick it off then. follow consecutively in numbering and we'll see if we hit 40 between us...no defence of any track, we can do that afterwards.
1. Uniforms 2. Four wheel drive 3. Tundra

Automotive Engineering (worse than bad, it's offensive) 5. Rattlesnake Trail (nails on a chalkboard) 6. Beastie (creature I love the least) Jeff P.S. Love Uniforms, though....Go, Eddie, Go!

There are, I think, around 350-400 Tull and Ian songs, so 40 would be over ten percent. Can't agree with that. There are at most 10 songs that I really don't like at all. Jeff

Hot mango flush 8. Mango Surprise (no need for this, really) 9. Free Will (sometimes I dig this one, but it's pretty nasty) 10. Saturation (should have lost the flute, then maybe...)

I quite like Rattlesnake Trail, can that counter act the two current no votes? That's a good point. If that was the case I'd remove Tundra and Bee-sting too.

Stitch in Time (Twitch in Slime) Flying Colours Hymn 43 Far Alaska Another Christmas Song Broadsword Overhang This is Not Love (this is not Good)
I'm skipping instrumentals and trying not to defend songs on other people's lists but I must say I love Hot Mango Flush...I'm already running out of songs I don't like...at what? eight songs...hmmm...what else? These are weak:
Something's on the Move Thinking 'round Corners 17 Hunt By Numbers and you're probably right about four wheel drive...
I would acknowledge there are a few weak cuts on Wraps/Walk into Light...but they are all interesting enough for the sound and cool use of gimmicks, vocal tricks and drum machines to save them from the list.

At the end of this we are going to have to compile all of these least favorites, and then give everyone a chance to "save" any of them. Our final list will have to be a 100% consenus of worst songs. Should we really be focusing on the worst songs? So many of these songs I really love, and others are bound to love them too. Surely, none of us are an authority on the quality of Tull songs.

While I appreciate your intent on keeping things positive, let's not lose site that we are all ardent Tull fans here KB. And the very thing that sets our board apart from others is that we encourage open discussion. If there's one undeniable fact about Tull fans, it's that we have extremely diverse tastes in our favorite Tull music. Nothing wrong with discussing our likes and dislikes. Cheers.

If there's one undeniable fact about Tull fans, it's that we have extremely diverse tastes in our favorite Tull music. Nothing wrong with discussing our likes and dislikes. Cheers. That's absolutely right, people's subjective opinions on Tull songs, whether positive or negative, are fair game for this board. People may express those opinions freely and explain why they feel that way, and others are free to express their disagreement and explain why they disagree. That's what a forum is supposed to be. But you have to understand that Michele (Chea) originated this thread in the first place because he wanted to express his amazement that his Itullian friends had created a "directory" of 40 Tull songs they considered to be "garbage." Many of us here said, "no that's absurd, 40 songs is like 10-15% of the entire Tull/IA catalogue...there are at most a handful of infereior ones." We each then named three or four we did not like so much, and came up with a total of about twelve songs.....and there was even some disagreement as to whether all of those were subpar! Jeff

Oh, I'm all in support of free and open discussion, involving any opinion. It just seemed like there was some talk of making a directory. I didn't know what form this directory would take, but it seemed a bit fishy to me Didn't mean to jump to conclusions. I am open for free discussion, but think making a directory where people vote would be a bit funny

That's what Michele was talking about....he could not believe that some of his friends on the Italian Tull forum created such a directory, and that it contained 40 songs that they considered to be "rubbish." And we all agreed that 40 is ridiculous, maybe a handful at most, and even as to those there are differing opinions!

It was hard for me to follow what the discussion was about, I suppose because I did not know of the situation. I completely agree

The only Tull songs that can be classified as subpar are the few (less than 10) that I don't like. If anyone likes songs I don't like...they are wrong...and if anyone dislikes songs that I like, they are wrong. Any questions? I try to be clear.
