I noticed on the front cover of "TAAB" that Gerald Bostock had used an obscene word, this being "G__r".
What do you think it might be?

Good question. I looked up a list of "bad words" starting with the letter G (not a pretty website to visit) and did not see anything that ends with an R--so it's probably something to do with a social taboo in the town of St. Cleve?

Yes, I think it was made up just to stress the absurdity of the moral crucifixion that 'little Milton' went through after the panel of judges took his award.

My contention is that the G...R stands for GROWLER, a word used in the dim and distant past, often in Old Blighty's northernmost regions, (where it's a bit colder) to describe a particularly hirsute example of the female......... icyL
