According to WIKIPEDIA: The album debuted at #55 on the Billboard chart, at #13 in the German Albums Chart, at #12 in the Finnish Album Chart, at #19 in the Austrian Album Charts, at #30 in the Norwegian Album Charts, at #31 in the Swiss Album Charts, at number #74 on the Canadian Albums Chart, at #35 on the UK charts, at #76 in the Dutch Album Chart and at #99 on the Spanish charts.. Prog Archives gave various positive reviews to the album, which awarded it with 4 stars out of 5 and stated: Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection. Grande Rock wrote: "Thick as a Brick 2 is a fine album that will bring you nice memories of the old Jethro Tull era..."
By any reasonable standard, this album is a success. Who wants to be # 1 and have to explain why we won the Grammy again?

JTull 07 said "Who wants to be # 1 and have to explain why we won the Grammy again?" Well, not me, Just wondering how the "real world" is taking this in as a whole not just our proggy and geezerly and Tullish corners of the world. The Billboard charts seem to be the standard for record sales. And it's refreshing to see something so idiosyncratic as this new album up there at #55. But that was a few weeks ago and I wonder if it's already dropped off the cliff. I do love all the great reviews. By the way, it seems Ian is the one who wants to justify his Grammy. He said as much when asked about the hard rock album he wants to make.
