I just bought The Best Of Acoustic Jethro Tull today - a completely unnecessary addition to my rather extensive collection, but I wanted it dammit, and it was only eleven bucks. Besides, how could *another* Tull CD on the shelf be anything but a good thing? It's actually a great listen, a chronological trip through - obviously - the more acoustic-based tracks. Nice for me, because as much as I love Ian's flute and voice, I especially love his acoustic guitar playing, always have. There were so many sides to Tull but the acoustic guitar always seemed to be nearby. Anyway, I rarely add redundant compilations to my collection (and JT have a ton of them) but I've been in such a huge Tull phase lately, I just had to have this nifty little set to pull off the shelf when the mood strikes.

I have it on mymp3 player. It's pretty great as a playlist. It's like the only Tull album you could use as background music effectively, I think. Tull should make a release of the opposite nature. The heaviest Tull songs... But yeah, an awesome release. My cousin is 18 and he listens to it sometimes.

Great post, Proggy! I, too, love acoustic Tull, and when I bought this I found it really flowed when played start to finish. Although I already knew all the songs, it got me almost as excited as if it were a "new" album. Plus the new version of "One Brown Mouse" is just beautiful. Sometimes a new compilation can bring older material into sharp focus

Yeah, even the best of Jethro Tull is a great collection of songs and a good representation of their music from across the years...

I wish they'd left off the "solo pieces" and put a few more Tull (e.g., Summerday Sands; March the Mad Scientist)...
