Perhaps just -Teacher.
Jan's own quotes from his website:
The decisive motive for designing my own website however sprang directly from my profession. I work at a teachers' trainings college and therefore am interested in how the internet can contribute to education. So, just to fathom the character of this relatively new medium, I decided to learn myself how to develop an informative website on one subject. Maybe the new acquired skills and experiences could help me when training students in applying the internet for educational purposes in primary education?

Thanks fellows...I'm truly motivated to keep this brilliant Tull fan in our clutches....his website is such a truly inspiring labor of love for the music and lyrics of our favorite band.......the guy who runs the 'Ministry' site has more or less disavowed his Tull fanhood...Jan's fresh debut on our site is a breath of fresh air and reminds me that I will NEVER tire of Tull !!

I didn't know that about Mr. Ministry. I could perhaps see him being displeased with Ian's current direction, but disavow his fanhood altogether? That I don't get. Jeff

I count on that site as base material for several projects...

Hey, don't make me blush... Just happy to be here. Regarding the remarks above: I has been for some years now that most of the early Tull-webmasters have stopped their work. Dag Sandbu from Norway has a great site, but disappeared from the earth, and no maintaining has been done for years. The same goes for Laufi from Germany, media wizzard and pioneer also and the first one to use Java on aTull-site. Neil Thomasson of the excellent Ministry site still maintains it by adding the set lists of every Tull- of Anderson-convert. His APP-work is outstanding imho. Andy Jackson, also from the UK, from Jethro Tull Press composed a huge and well organized virtual archive of articles on Tull, but since he is depending of articles where he can lay his hands on, there is not much work for him to do currently. I for one am out of work when it comes to The Cup, due to the fact that there are no lyrics coming up to annotate since the Headmaster has decided not to release a new Tull-album because of the downloading... And the stream of annotations I received from Tull-fans has dried up long ago. We should imho bear in mind that most of the work was done during the nineties, when we all were younger. But hey, peoples lifes change, new choices come up, new challenges to meet, kids to raise, moving to another town or health problems - all these things can be good reasons for no longer maintaining a Tull-site. There might be a lack of interest due to the ever postponed release of already recorded material (apart from a "new" Christmas album nobody has asked for...), and the fact that the set lists from 1999 tot 2006 have hardly changed. The musical direction has been a problem for many fans. There is in fact no true band left. Anderson speaks of Tull as a musical family which different members on both sides of the ocean. On top of that he becomes more and more involved in the cross-over category. As an aging statesman of R&R, growing deaf and finding it hard to sing in front of a heavy band, it might be so that he chose to change his cards and play more often on classical events. It's very understandable that this is for most of the fans not their cup of tea. I for one however love Tull in every possible capacity or form and what still attracts me are the lyrics and the musical dichotomy in the songs. The good thing however is, that Jethro Tull is now one of the best documented bands. Websites, books and thanks to the TalkTull community have we great bootlegs from every tour since 1969, that have found their way to all continents! Fans in eastern Europe and Russia finally caught up. Secondly, we should bear in mind that most Tull-fans were a group of isolated individuals, that changed when the internet came along and we started to meet virtually. The band has profited much from all those internetactivities (sites, forums and other communities) and received a lot of promotion for free. It attracted new audiences and a lot of old farts who had turned away from Tull in the APP-days, came "home" again. In the past Neil, Andy, Laufi and I worked together for a long time and became friends over the years, though we never met in the flesh. Friends come and go and hey, aren't we all - as Jack Bruce sings somewhere -"ships passing in the night"? Cheers from a wet and windy Holland, where autumn rules. Jan

Jan,
Don't be modest.
Your website has been quoted and referenced on many boards.
The insight into some of the British terms that aren't familiar to us of the US variety, and the unreleased tracks are personal favorites.
Not to mention using your site for cross referencing clues in Jeff Fatman's Quizzes!
I don't know who deciphered Tull lyrics for you in the old days , but if you wanted to pitch in and try to figure out the lyrics to new songs, "A Change of Horses' and A Tea With The Princess" located on the Youtube thread here -it would be appreciated.
I don't believe I'm close on a lot of it and no one else seems to want to take a stab at it.
Dan
