For Vinyl Lovers: The full official Record Store Day list will be released on March 20th.
There's some talk of there being over 500 releases, will Homo Erraticus be one of them?

Seems like we have Ian on a album cover, first time since Walk Into Light. If we don't count best of albums.

Yes, this time we must definitely get together for a show or two. Sorry I missed you in Boston, we had a great JTB get-together. I'm not sure if that will be happening again this year, or if I will be a part of it, but in any event we should try to make some plans for a show in New York or Boston, or anywhere in between. Hope all is well with you and your family. Jeff

Vinyl is big with teenagers these days - at least mine. I got back into vinyl a couple years ago... I think I was just looking for an excuse to buy physical music again. CD's were pointless and the digital realm lacks charm.... Maybe I'm a sucker. But its fun. LOL

That ability to sit back and listen while exploring the cover made it a more complete experience compared to the eventual CD packaging that killed that aspect. I was never that much a fan of dealing with albums themselves since despite all my efforts to protect the sound quality, "snap, crackle, and pop" always showed up eventually.

Right TM, those covers were almost like watching the video of the record because your imagination played a part as well. You could really get lost in some of those, so it's no wonder that video became the next step in the 80s. I for one like the CD. It's clean, doesn't take up too much space, and it's something you can hold in your hand, take a hammer to in some cases - or, in Mothy's case, something to misplace. Vinyl was the pits really. One never really heard the pure music without the hum, pop and static, but the recordings were oft times awesome. I love the original vinyl pressing of APP. Didn't somebody try to (or perhaps they did) develope a laser player that could read vinyl back in the early 80s - provided the vinyl wasn't warped or had any major scratches. Now that would be awesome to have.

Everyones good here, hope the same with you.
Absolutley we should do a show this year. I hear October for the east coast. We may have to meet somewhere in the middle. Providence(?) He pretty well saturated NY & Boston areas the last 2 years. He may be going to the well once too often.......UK isnt selling well. He's doing press here in April. Heard US starts in Sept in Seattle and 1st leg ends in Ashville, NC.
Let me know if your ever travelling up this way. We should get together either with Tull or without. Have you been in touch with KG?

Have you been in touch with KG? Yes, we are good, thanks, but very busy! I am sure we will be able to see one or more shows together this time around, in New York or New England. I do like doing road trips whenever Ian and the boys are here, and I love Boston. This last year was my first visit there since I saw those Light Music shows with you three nights in a row in 1991, but unfortunately, I was only able to spend one day. We'll have to see how the tour schedule shakes out, but there's always a chance of me taking the family up there for a weekend aside from that. I did see Kenny Greeen and a whole bunch of other people at the New York shows, then for Boston a bunch of us at The Board had a get together which was a lot of fun, but not long enough. I wish you could have joined us for that! Jeff

I ordered the HE double vinyl, plus the special edition (whatever it's called), hopefully signed. Vinyl does not have to be snap, crackle and pop! It just costs a fortune to have the best equipment and cleaning/protection system to deal with it. And the sound quality can be as good as high resolution digital (albeit with a higher noise floor). Plus vinyl is fun. G

A BIC Venturi turntable, a Marantz receiver and a big-ass pair of Klipsch Heresy floor speakers. *Blinks* Ummm....wait. That was in the mid-70s. *Blinks again* Errr...never mind.

That was a great system in the mid-70s, but not ultra-high end (I paid for it myself with my first job at 15 and also dealing in the rampant drug trade in my high school ). I've got an Onkyo system with Polk speakers currently; again, not ultra-high end but highly rated for the money.

I've been researching Onkyo A/V receivers as I'm thinking of replacing my current Yamaha. Wives and high-end audio don't really seem to work well together....

I've had only two in the past 15 years (and the old 5.1 receiver is still working in the basement). I traded the Marantz receiver and Klipsch speakers for a PA system when I started playing in bands seriously in the late 70s. Now I find they're still worth hundreds of dollars used over 30 years later. Go figure. And no, wives are not conducive to loud music in the house. Which is why I've cleverly scheduled my days off from work to not coincide with my wife's, except for vacations, of course. She's been shocked quite often when she uses my car and I've left the stereo blaring. An irritant sort of like leaving the toilet seat up.

Men will be men. A friend of mine builds custom systems…….here are some pics. I've heard Dark Side of the Moon thru this speaker system and it is a experience. Rich has promised that when APP comes out we can have a little listening party. I have to bring the beer. He won't even tell me what the cost is for the installation in the home above is. Darin

You may want to bring a beer truck! Those speakers are crazy. Not sure if the wife would let me put those on the shelves of our built-in.

Darin, that is one sweet speaker system. But like Paul, I fear my wife would not allow those monster horns in the living room. But if I get divorced, I want this guy's number!
