What songs do you remember getting radio airplay following the release of a new album?
The last two I remember is Kissing Willie back in 1989 and also Dogs In The Midwinter in 1987. I've never heard anything newer than that, but I'm not a big listener of FM radio either.

Funny, I remember as a teen driving around in my mom's car in 1977 (only an AM radio, mind), and hearing "Whistler" for the first time! On a damn AM radio! Bought the album and went to see the concert soon after. As far as Tull on the radio, I haven't heard anything new since Crest of a Knave, honestly. "Farm on the Freeway" was big.

Songs From The Wood is the last album I remember getting repeated plays in New York. The title track and the Whistler were played frequently.
I never heard Farm on the Freeway. I remember hearing Crossfire upon the release of A back in 1980.
It was always cool hearing the new Tull stuff, but now no one cares except us.

Just before TAAB was released KOL-FM here in Seattle played the whole album. My friends and I listened in wrapt attention. A couple of months later, in June 1972, the tour supporting the album came to town and KOL-FM aired that concert as well. It was a good time to be a Tull fan.

Bungle in The Jungle (I was only 5 but remember hearing it all the time on AM Top 40 radio, Steel Monkey, Farm On the Freeway, Kissing Willie, and Beside Myself. Fortunately I have satellite radio now, and heard Farm on the Freeway just yesterday, and they frequently play deep tracks of Tull. They even recently had the entire remastered Passion Play in heavy rotation for a few days with sound bites from Ian newly recorded for it. Thought that was very cool.

Back in those days if any concert was aired somebody in my circle taped it, as live recordings were rare. These days there is a glut of everything. How things have changed. Things were so underground then that the idea that somebody like Ozzy Osborn's wife could be a regular on a prime time network program one day would be unthinkable.

Unfortunately I didn't tape it , I heard part of the broadcast but wasn't home to record it. I've been looking for a recording of it for 43 years, as it was the most amazing concert I ever attended.

Steel Monkey and Kissing Willie most predominantly. But I think the very last one I heard on the radio was Part Of The Machine. Also the last most promising song/ effort from the band at the time IMO.

Also the last most promising song/ effort from the band at the time IMO. I remember hearing all those songs getting quite a bit of airplay as well. Got to throw Farm On The Freeway in there too. Probably the very last one I heard was Locomotive Breath from Live at Hammersmith '84. It wasn't played very much.

"This is not love" got play on WBCN Boston when it was released; "Roll your Own" & "Postcard Day" each got a bit of play on Boston's WBOS or the River or whatever it was called in those days.

NRK - Norsk RiksKringkasting (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) - Radio One - Program: Radio Rock - Fridays 09.00 pm - 00.00
Friday 29th of July 2016
This program every Friday celebrates some old rockers 60th and 70th birthday. (29th of July 2016 was my 58th...).
But the 30th of July was Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond's 70th birthday, and that was celebrated on Norwegian radio on 29th of July.
They played Sealion. (I don't think Jeffrey is involved with anything else but playing the bass on Sealion, it's Sealion II..., but anyway...
Congratulations Jeffrey !

NRK - Norsk RiksKringkasting (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) - Radio One - Programme: Radio Rock - Fridays 09.00 pm - 00.00
Friday 6th of April 2018
40th Anniversary celebration for the release of the Heavy Horses album.
They played "Acres Wild".
40 years ago they played ...Mouse Police... at the presentation of the new album, if my memory is correct. That was another programme. "Pop spesial" i think; presentations of news in pop and rock music.
Time flies... I had not reached twenty back then. Now I am quite close to sixty.

Scott Muni (WNEW-FM in NY) played Farm On the Freeway when Crest... came out. Upon hearing it, I remember thinking to myself that Ian had finally allowed someone else to sing lead (as we know, his voice was drastically different on that album, kind of resembling the then-ultra-popular Knopfler and Dire Straits). Songs From the Wood's title track and The Whistler were played on WPLJ.
