One of Ian Anderson's favorite songs is Fire, by Arthur Brown. I was unfamiliar with this, but it is pretty great stuff. Check out this vid from 1968...I love the costumes and flaming devil's hat! From 'The Crazy World of Arthur Brown':

i thought everyone knew this song, it was a big hit in the UK at the time and is still well known today. I wonder if he was an influence on Alice cooper re. the makeup etc.

;D I believe he made an appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, where my dad cringed and I relished the moment. I was in a class where the teacher was drowned out by the class singing 'Question' by the Moody Blues, same kids performed 'fire'.

I wonder if he was an influence on Alice cooper re. the makeup etc. I don't think he was as well known over here. In all the years I've been listening to classic rock radio, I never once heard that song, which was his biggest hit I guess. Maybe it got some radio airplay in the late sixties or early seventies, but I was too young at the time. I didn't start getting into rock music until around 1975, when I discovered the Aqualung album. Jeff
