It´s always the second weekend in August, so this year it´s 12. - 14. August. It is the best festival on the face of this planet. They have all kinds of music styles from pure folk to heavy rock. I saw so many brilliant bands there over the years. My first Cropredy was in 1993. Peggy gave me a complimentary ticket some weeks before and said: "See you at the bar!" So when I arrived on that magical field I thought this bar would be somewhere backstage, so I went there. Backstage were just a lot of tents and caravans, some roadies and stewarts. No bar - no Peggy. So I asked one of the stewarts: "Sorry, where is the bar?" He gave me that kind of look that says "Loony" and said to me: "You can´t be that blind! To come down here you came along an endless bar." Me - stupid: "Oh - that´s the bar." He: "Yes, that´s THE bar, we don´t have another one." So I went to THE bar and there I found Peggy and some other Fairports. He bought me the first 6X of my life and we had a little chat. When I finished the beer Peggy said to me: "Turn around. The guy behind you is in charge to buy you another one. So he is your waiter." I turned around and my waiter was ----- Robert Plant!!!! I was shocked and lost my English. The only thing I could stutter was: "Oh, Mr. Plant!" So Peggy ordered the beer for me and Robert Plant payed it. This can only happen at Cropredy

Yet another great story, Ulla!
I have been wanting to go to Cropredy for years now, but have never followed through and actually planned it. One of these summers I'm going to actually do it!
But I have been able to have a few beers with the Fairport guys on several occasions when they used to play annual shows at the Bottom Line in NYC, and then hit a nearby pub afterwards. What a nice bunch of guys, and so friendly to fans!
