Thanks for posting that feature/interview piece, John. Very thoughtful and well-written. It is true that nowadays, when Tull does receive media attention, it is much more favorable than the ridicule that was unjustly heaped on them in the late seventies, early eighties, when they were considered so uncool. I liked the writer's comment on TOTRNR, but certainly disagreed with his description of it as " relatively mundane." I believe Ian foresaw the changes that were about to take place in the rock business, and that album was a deliberate, tongue-in-cheek response to those imminent changes. And it is so ironic, that after all these years, the TOTRNR premise has come true.....Tull are now regarded favorably again, no longer seen as out of fashion, and influencing new bands like Midlake, Fleet Foxes and The Decembrists! In a way, Too Old may just be Ian's most brilliant album. Jeff

I'm encouraged to hear Ian state that he's sent some new music to America for the guys to work on. At this stage in Ian's career I really don't care the method in which he records. I'm just happy to know they are working on new material. Thanks for the post tt.

Caution: I hope the" new writing" is not the reworking of old Tull. Ian being sly. A new Tull studio album, maybe he's waiting for 2012. It's noted on the Mayan calendar for 2012. The future is now! "So which Jethro Tull will we find on the March tour of the UK?" “A bit of this, bit of that,” says Anderson. “There are the favourites, of course, plus a few songs that haven’t been aired so much over the years. It’s a chance to dress them up a bit… push them somewhere else.” “And any new writing?” “I was writing last night, actually. Up late and writing. I have sent material over to America where the band are working on it. That’s kind of how it works these days but they seem to like what I am doing.”
