I watched MAYBE a minute and 1/2 of that. Was that the show they handed out marijuana to the audience, before, during and after the performance. I'm surprised there wasn't a riot at that show.

Truly wretched recent vocal performance. Jeff I have not watched this clip in part for fear that I will like it, and in part because its bed time. However I love where the shot has caught Ian's head with the cymbal behind, looks like he is wearing one of those old time matadors hats.

Trust me, Ray, you will not like this one. Jeff Nah Jeff I watched it, I am hopeless and I am not doing it on purpose but I do like it. I suppose in part because I had never seen them perform it in all those years of viewing them til they brought it back on the Roots tour, where memory serves me he sang it the precise same way, using the old man or adjusted voice on the first verse, then curiously switching to what sounds like the original key for the rest of the song, which makes me wonder, although not much, whether he could have sang the whole song in its original form. See I get such a kick out of seeing his head enunciating the words it almost would not matter if literaly nothing was coming out. I am not well, I had hoped the net and A New Day would prove to me that I was not, in fact, the most fanatical Tull fan in the world, but alas, I might be. I don't want to be. Always been like that, was sort of like that about Mickey Mantle who I only saw after he was washed up, but in his case I know there have got to be people who were worse. But one wall of my tv room is something of a Mickey Mantle museum. And hey, the Tull video has good sound, whats her name bouncing around who is a marvelous player and was real nice on the time or two I have bothered her, and on top of We Used To Know being one of my all times and originals, I remain enraptured with all forms of Bouree, seriously folks, I ain't doin it on purpose and very much wish he would choose all the songs for a tour out of a hat, but I get why he doesn't, and remain delighted whatever form of Ian is still around in freaking 2010. I'm pretty sure he's a good guy if you don't know he's Jethro Tull, somebody like the local butcher or some of the old ladies in town I will bet think he's a lovely man, I understand why he is guarded where people like me are concerned, I really do remember, of the pre 75 dosed on lsd Tull crowd, alot of those people really thought he knew the answer, I get why thats scary, especially when they are so high and hes not. But u all are also probably right, in all likelihood at least aspects of what he does, re set lists and voice probably do suck, somehow I have convinced myself otherwise, I know I love his voice of the past 20 years on all the official releases, nearly preferring it to his younger voice, and I swear the band has in large part aged very gracefully to my ears, sort of like he has long since figured out what the very best aspects of the oeuvre have been. I at least have matured enough where the prospect of missing a tour ain't no thing, I notice the Chicago area one is already sold out cept for lawn seats, can't afford to go at the moment anyway, and going all the way back they bore me as often as not, its just that part of when they don't bore me, o man, as Simon Nicol said of Richard Thompson's music, "It is mothers milk to me."

Now I kind of wish I had not mentioned that Mickey stuff for the sole fact that it made me look at that wall, and I realize a notarized autographed picture I had up there for years, even with a pic of him signing it, is missing. My mind drifts back to a young guy who I allowed to stay here in Nov while I was out of town on thanksgiving, so, color me pissed. You want someone who was not good to his fans, at least in his time as a player, that would be the Mick, many was the time I would wait outside Sox Park by the Yankee bus to get his autograph, Mickey always was given a separate exit, due to the level of fanaticism, to this day equalled to my knowledge in terms of collectability only by Michael Jordan. Very sad, feel like my childhood has been raped.

Nice post, Ray. I hear where you are coming from because, up until around six or seven years ago I was very much like you, and still am to some extent. It's just that my feelings have become more complicated and cynical, with the current state of Tull the way it is, and also with some of the things Ian has said in interviews in recent years. I'll explain more later. Jeff
