Ever have a time where Tull music came on the radio, or was otherwise played at an unexpected, weird or coincidental time? Please share. One time I was in a Duane Reade pharmacy in December, and they had a loop of Christmas music, but it was mostly old and corny stuff, like Bing Crosby's White Christmas. Then, all of a sudden, in the middle of that fuddy-duddy X-mas music, right after Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, came Another Christmas Song! Christmas Song would be surprising enough, but something as obscure as Another Christmas Song? How weird is that?

I was up at Olympic ski jump complex in Lake Placid some years back when I heard Life's A Long Song emanating from a PA system. So I followed the sound and found a bunch of guys doing in some free-style ski jumping. Someone had made a mix of music for them to jump to....this wasn't simply the radio playing. The version they were listening to was actually off of ALLM.

Jeff I think that song was actually covered by some conductor/orchestra for a Christmas album. I have it somewhere.

Hmmm....well a couple of years ago, we were at a labor day party and my older brother was drinking and it was getting really late and Hymn 43 came on the radio and I rarely ever hear Tull on the radio and I said, "Oh yay it's Tull!" and brother said, "Man, this is Black Sabbath!" and I found that surprising! Specially since my brother knows Tull and Sabbath...but funny enough...
I was also at a local bar thing a few years ago, the month I became preg, and there was a band playing and they started playing Locomotive breath...not very exciting but like the title of this...unexpected...
Tull, namely Living with the past DVD was playing on a CT public broadcasting station a couple months ago...it was to promote the show and the cheese and wine tasting or whatever...
That's all I can think of right now...I probably have more...

Every time Tull comes on the radio (I think especially in the states) is a surprise to me. Obviously the most I've heard have been Aqualung and Too old to Rock and Roll. Surprisingly, I have not heard a lot of Locomotive Breath played, but then again I dont spend too much of my time listening to classic rock radio.
I did hear an edited version of thick as a brick twice on the radio, though. Certainly a gem. Whenever I hear them I'm always hoping that some young boy or girl listening to the radio in his/her house somewhere is completely touched by it, and goes out to buy the record the next weekend.

A couple of years ago I watched a documentary on Stephen King. He was interviewed in his house in Maine (I think) and filmed driving his pick up over his estate. And all of a sudden Part Of The Machine was coming out of the radio in his car. It turned out that he had bought a classic rock radio station that was about to go bust. I guess he told the people at the radio station what to play so he would not have to change tapes (yes, it was that long ago) in his car.

Today I heard Bungle in the Jungle at a burger restaurant (they were playing a Sirrius classic rock station). It's funny because when I do hear a Tull song like that, I have to stop and not talk like I've never heard it. Listen to Bungle for the 1000th time? Sure why not LOL it's playing over a speaker in a burger joint! Must. Listen. Just sayin'

Whenever I hear Tull I have to give my whole attention to it, no matter how many times I've heard the song. And I expect everyone else around me to keep quiet too! Jeff

Someone recorded me Peter Gabriel's III to a cassette about 25 years ago. There was some space left after the album and he had recorded "Flying Colours" there. It was a great surprise. I had never heard the song before and loved it instantly.

Reading the Giro d'Italia live coverage on Velonews.com (Go Cadel!) and the following question draws an unexpected Tull response from the commentator:
[Comment From Mary Mary : ] You've been with us these three weeks. What are you going to do without Live Updates next week? Wednesday May 26, 2010 3:07 Mary 3:10 Charles F. Pelkey: Spend time at home. My big priority is to make it to the Laramie Lab School talent show on Tuesday, where one 10-year-old Annika Pelkey has decided to play a Jethro Tull tune on the flute ... while Hoola-Hooping (!?!?!?). That has to be better than a grand tour even, eh?

30 Rock: Season 5 Episode 8: College – TV Reviewscreencrave.com/2010-11-19/30-rock-season-5-episode-8-college-tv-review/I was watching this - not recording, but I caught Alec Baldwin (Jack Donaghy) singing something like this - "Sitting on a park bench...I don't remember the words after bench." 4. And Man formed Aqualung of the dust of the ground, and a host of others likened unto his kind.

Another unexpected place I've heard them was on the show King of the Hill, where Hank Hill is working out to Aqualung.
