Programme,
No worries, and no need to delete your prior post. After you have followed an artist as long as we have, it's only natural to develop some mixed feelings, and it's also natural to have different reactions to different shows, sometimes night-to-night, and sometimes within the same show! I can't tell you how many times that has happened to me.
We allow, and in fact encourage, honest reactions and criticism here. We call 'em as we see 'em. That's what a forum should be about. Otherwise, if all everyone did here was praise the living shit out of Ian and Tull, this place would be boring. There are some Tull forums like that, but we're not one of them.
IA himself is uncomfortable with unfettered praise, and I believe, prefers to know the honest opinions of his fans. In the foreward to his masterful book, Dave Rees takes pride in the fact that his fanzine, A New Day, has always remained independent, despite having close contacts with the band, and we feel the same way about The Jethro Tull Board.
Rees quotes Ian as saying the following at the 1996 UK Tull Convention:
"Thanks to Dave Rees and A New Day for keeping things.....interesting. When they think we're shite, they say we're shite -- in the nicest possible way!"
So thanks for posting your forthright opinions, feelings and reactions, and keep it coming! (And may we know your first name....we like to be on a first name basis here!)
Jeff

I was not particularly thrilled with the last time I saw Tull.
After reading programme's review my curiosity is peaked and faith restored.
I'll be in attendance next time. Nice review.

I have been to the concert the following evening, in Vicenza. The set list was the same you have sent much before me... I felt a very pleasant atmosphere in this show. Probably Ian' s likes very much to have to do with young people. Flo in a very good shape during the show and I' ve appreciated the new drummer as a very fast drummer. Ian looked particularly happy, that evening, indeed. The show began with a slow Jack in the Green version. Maybe the I.A " War Machine " was preparing the engines, because the following 5 piceses were performed in a so brilliant way. In my opinion, the Sturcz quartet doesn't add much at the show. I mean, they are ok when playng with the whole band, but look like a bit boring when performing alone. Theyr SFTW and HH solo I've found so. Probably Ian noticed this, and right after HH, not finished yet, he entered ruuning the stage, as he offen do, performing a very brilliant Bouree version!!. After 15 minutes interruption, a " metal " Flo J.S Bach music version. Pleasant and original. From this, all the songs and the pieces of music, superb, really. That's what I meant as " I.A war machine ".One of the best Budapest i' ve everheard, also. Another time a sold out concert for the band. M.

This tour was certainly one of their better ones. I know what you mean about Budapest, it certainly sounds better on this tour then in past years for some reason. The lighting effects that were used during it in Montclair was very very good. The best lighting I have seen at a Tull show in over 30 years. Thick red down lighting with thin white circular beams shooting through it from behind the stage. Must have included a good amount of smoke effect as well. Have a very Merry Christmas. Hopefully Santa brings you a nice new camera! Paul

Hi, Michele!
I'm happy to see your reviews and other posts on the board. Sounds like you really enjoyed the show, except for your reservations about the orchestra.
Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Jeff

You know that I like very much to report after a J.T or an :(Ian's show. You are true. I also think it is a shame I haven't got a new camera in order to get photos for the forum...! My dear daughter boycotts me, in this, but she won't win !! I' m going to buy another camera before next tour will begin. The date in Sankt Moritz is not so far...

We can't also imagine that a kind of artist like Ian could badly choose bad musicians to play with him. I've only found that in a kind of show like that, they are better when they play together with the band. M. Thanks Jeff. A Wonderful Christmas and a Beautyful New Year to You and Your Family!! Michele.
