Sorry, to the under 50's who don't know who Andy Griffith was. Classic voice of reason as sheriff of Mayberry who never felt the need to carry a gun.
There are probably people who never knew there were words to the classic theme song.

Yes, it's a sad day in more ways than one for me. Andy was a great North Carolinian. I grew up with him. I probably know every line to every one of the old Andy Grifith shows. Matlock was filmed in Wilmington, where I live now. Many episodes were filmed in the building where I worked and I would cross his path from time to time, that show ran for 9 years. I also lost my 16 year old cat today. A gift from hurricane Bertha in 1996.

Sorry I don't don't know your first name or your kitty's name , but my heart goes out to you and hopefully you can find some comfort here. Hoping you find solace in your fond memories. Dan

I'm 18 and know of Andy Grifith! The Andy Grifith show has been my all-time favourite out of all the old shows . I was chocked when I heard he had died, this morning... kinda limited the enjoyment I had planned. He was such a wonderful person! I'm going to miss him!

The thought has occurred to me recently that as fictitious places, 'Mayberry' and the 'Cozy Corner' of TAAB2 bear much resemblance, particularly "Floyd's Barber Shop" where Mayberry's recurring characters would often "...drop by to chat in idle gossip, repetition. Same old words, another day while, all the time, life slipped away. But slipped so slowly, stretching moments into hours and hours to years." With characters by, in this case, Andy Griffith, dark silences, slow Passion Play. RIP RFD.

Andy Griffith will always be a part of television for years to come. His ability to create a town which has so many hilarious people, was always done with respect. Believe me, the characters and locations are very real to many parts of North Carolina. North Carolina - First in Andy
