This is the story of how I got back stage and almost met Ian at the Palace Theater in Albany, November 19, 2004. And yes, this story will be told in Sternian fashion, or, in other words, in installments. Here's a pic outside the theater: I encourage my cohorts to chime at anytime as they see fit. The main characters of course being Mothfairy, Danno, and myself. Here we are right before the show: Since Mothfairy has basically told the story (or her side of it!), I think it's best if I simply add my anecdotes accordingly to paint the entire picture. First let me set the stage as I recall it: I had purchased 4 tickets to the Albany show and to the Rhode Island show - knowing I'd be going with my good friend Billy Fingas and chances were we would drag along our wives. But as fate would have it for some odd reason the wives wanted no part of the Aqualung Tour and there is where it all began.... img812.imageshack.us/img812/9617/hwtrafficsignsroadtripc.gif [/img]

I don't remember your hair being so full. See what happens when all I'm doing is daydreaming about AG.
Is this going to be true Sternian style and not be finished ever? haaa
I remember one part of it that I didn't mention before. During intermission we went outside and it was me alone. And you and Fingas. I hadn't really spoken much to you then I talked to you for a minute and you said, "You sound like you're from Bawwston" Then one of the Palace staff (they are so strict there it was a wonder we got backstage at all) started herding us like cattle, yelling, "No stand over here, no over there, get back inside the line!!" and one guy got into a fight with the staff and his mom started yelling at the staff too. I think this was before your argument with a bouncer. I remember a guy walking around that looked just like IA who wasn't actually IA. And Dan bought us a drink and I got carded. At Tull shows it's always assumed that I'm like twelve.

But yes I intend to fully beat Jeff to the finish line and finish my story first. After all, thanks to you there's not a lot for me to tell is there?

Even though I already had four tickets I just couldn't pass up 1st row. Fingas had previously worked out that we would meet up with his cousin and his girlfriend on our way to Albany. The only difference now is we just wouldn't be sitting with them. In the mean time I exchanged PM's with Holly offering her my two extra tickets for RI. She was a bit hesitant at first, but I guess I passed my background check and now we were all set to go.

Between me, Kenneth and Jen we had 3 Providence tickets but yours were far closer, so me and Jen took them, I sold the other two to my friend Tim's cop cousin and Kenny sat with them way up on the next level. haha.
I wasn't sure at first when you mentioned the two extra because I thought you were picking on me at the old board. Of course I joined the board and started posting like a crazed person, sort of like, "ZOMGGG! I LOVE TULL, DON'T YOU GUYS?!?! IT'S SO AWESOME...AHHHHH!!!" That would be better tolerated here than there at that time. But I thought you were going to be mean and scary. But it was good.

TM, by the age of your daughter, she was just probably a few months older than my Em is now. And that seems like yesterday. Why do they have to grow so fast?
Back then, I didn't even have any kids yet, but had been married for a year. I remember the night of the Providence show you asked me, "Why did you get married so young...why would you do that?" Jen said something really ridiculous, probably after 2 or 6 beers and you looked at her like, "WTH?", but I really don't remember what it was she said.

I remember you as being a over zealous and was trying to figure out if you were for real or just trolling. Back then I had a sharp tongue. Nowhere as polite as I am now.

Oh you mean I gave her the "what the hell is wrong you you dumb f-ck" look? That's the look I used to make when when reading a few of our ex-member's posts. It does go by quickly. This one wants to go see TAAB2 live. Trouble is she doesn't want to see TAAB. lol. I've taken my kids to a few shows. Unlike Dan's daughter mine seem to think it's nap time .

Not TAAB?! I remember Dan's gal looking sleepy but I was getting sleepy too. I probably had work that morning. The acoustic part is great but it was like it could lull me to sleep..which could be a good thing...soothing.
The old site had so many trolls or one with a lot of incarnations...so I know many thought I was one of those or not really a female or whatever...I was so like, "Why doesn't anyone like meeee." :''''''( LOL.
I remember standing outside the doors to the Palace. It was cold so I started my annoying girl at concert singing. To keep warm.

Okay I was all excited hoping for another chapter here. It's like I wasn't there...like when Darin told his story I was on the edge of my seat and here I am doing it again even though I know this story. And that's what you have for me. Three words. I'm depressed.
LOL.

Once at the theater it wasn't difficult spotting both Danno: and of course Mothfairy: in addition, was Mothfairy's whiny friend Jen, who went on ad nauseum telling everyone that Ian was actually Jethro Tull: And then of course there's was Mothfairy's husband. A very likeable guy. Ah, my bad! There was also Dan's daughter who was very young at the time, but she was able to tell me her favorite song was Farm On A Freeway. I still remember the outfit Dan dressed her up in that day: So there we were, all set to take in Jethro Tull's Aqualung tour....

So let's get to it: The ShowThis was the Aqualung tour which meant it wasn't your typical Best-of show. All the songs on Aqualung were interspersed throughout the evening. The band sounded great and Ian vocals were the best I've heard in many years. As I recall, the only thing was missing that night was a light show. But even without it it was very enjoyable. Another change with this show was that members were set up front close to the audience for the opening set which was acoustic - including Doane with a small electronic drum kit. Doane was given the ortunity to introduce We Five Kings, mentioning how the song was similar to LITP as it's in 5/4 time. Ironically there were 5 members of the band, and his drumset had 5 tom-toms, and he continued on about the number five, only to get cut-off by Ian sharply stating "he had "5 fucking seconds to get back to his drum kit"! Some highlights of the acoustic set was Up To Me, having never heard that one live. Another was Dun Ringill which featured just the two longtime members - Ian on acoustic and Martin on mando. Intermission was enjoyed with the pouring of beverages This show took place during the time Ian was having some hearing trouble, so despite the 2nd half designed to make our ears bleed, the reduced volume resulted in reduced dynamics. The highlight song of the evening was hearing the new version of Hymn 43 with it's jig-inspired intro that morphs into one of Tull's best rockers. At the start of the encore, someone (who shall remain nameless) attempted to get us closer to the stage. But good security prevailed (again) so we rocked out at our seats to LITP to end the show. Martin, being the kind man that he is spotted Dan's daughter in the front row and sent her home with his guitar pick. Ian on the other hand was extremely pissed off at someone in the audience. Instead of waving goodbye, he was focused on this guy and appeared ready to challenge the guy to a fight. Sad to see Ian like that at the end after such a great performance. Up next...back stage, coffee and the bananas

Fingas, is that you! Oh my god! How the heck are you?! Wish we could've seen you guys for another show.
TM, I loved your opening posts and set up...last one was kind of eh...well you know. haha.
And where is Fingas' picture in all of this? You include Jen but not Fingas? Well, jeez.
