I do not think that you will be disappointed Lucas. It is absolutely fascinating. Although , I think the author makes too many analytical theories about the structure and compositionof the music. I think of it quite simply TAAB /PP works of innate musical ability and composed from the heart. I wonder what Ian Anderson makes of the analysis of his musc

Are you meaning the Rabey book ? If so , I have read it ......some interesting parts but not much to add to the overall picture. It also includes this poor piece of proof reading on pg 219 'Goodier became the permanent replacement for Giddings and John O Hara took Jon Noyce's spot on bass.' Priceless The most interesting part for me were the chapters on the early days of Tull

Reading the Rabey book right now and am about half way through. Kind of disappointed so far. I was hoping for more backstory about the various albums. While talking about TOTRRTYTD he never mentions the film version at all. Since the author has "all access" to the band I was hoping for more details. I guess the book would have had to have been three times it's size though.

Mike Because of earlier "dealings" with Mr. Rabey, I have recused myself from doing any kind of review or commentary on his book as it might be seen in the wrong light. In the new A New Day Magazine, Martin Webb wrote a very complete review that you might find helpful. I picked up a copy from Amazon UK and read it in 2 days. I'm now awaiting delivery of A New Day Tapes vol. 2. If your into info about making the albums and other great Tull stories from the band members themselves, Volume 1 was fantastic. I loved it. It is defiantly worth the price. Darin

Okay, I'm a slow reader as well, plus, considering all the other distractions this season brings (and the fact that you out rank me here), I hereby grant you an extention. You may relax now and read at leisure.

Thanks, Darin. If I have any $$$ left after Christmas I plan on getting a copy. Reading the Rabey book right now and am about half way through. Kind of disappointed so far. In a post Illoman has left recently with regard to my bio on Tull he makes one of many good points and that is in this day and age of on-line reading, books become more expensive to create and therefore less pages, so since most of the stand-out stories we've all read about in other books, mags, and papers, why waste the few pages you have with a repeat of something already written. I did the book paying attention to as much unknown aspects as I could, but, yes. In the end the pages just are not there or the book would have been a double sized or 2 volume book which we entertained, but would have bankrupt the company. There was a also a comment I read on the pages set up: Conversations with BR and noted Pat asked about some statistics and with the publisher in the UK and not a big company I am not sure the number printed. Smaller companies can under-run and over-run, so the fact is I just know it sold out 2 times needing restocking around the world, so what their restock number are I don't know, but the comment about who did the biggest interview with Ian I wasn't referring to a vast open network of stuff, simply in books. There were 60 pages of solid Ian material and for that it took many hours and in book form there does not exist a single 60 page long bio on Ian. That's it, nothing hiding under a rock.
I always get the impression this place is trying to find some sad skeletonous material in my closet, but what is there is there and I have moved on to another project including the audio disc set of all the interviews for fans to hear the conversations as many people not interviewed before are speaking out, so that's next, so enjoy the book, I worked a decade to get it on the shelf, the royalties are squat so it was done for the fans and yet it' the fans who seem to be trying to find the most fault with it. I don't understand, it makes me question reasoning when I see about 12 reviews at Amazon - 11 are 5 stars and one is a nasty tear 'em down and bloody him piece of absolute hatred, which I thought was pathetic as it stated science Fiction, yet 11 5 star reviews and one 2 star. So why not borrow it from the library that way you don't waste your money and can decide if it's worth owning, but for God's sake stop bickering; it's just a book. BR
