This is mostly ratio versus emotion, isn't it? Jethro Tull/Ian Andersons music has been with me since 73. The 73-78 period was the best - to me. It was also a period in my life, late teens that was going to be very influential in my later life. So for more than just the music alone I perfer that period, although I think that is was also Ians best writing in tha period. But in later years the band may have changed, the music remained important, so did the concerts (good or less good as they sometimes are). The current line up can give me a very happy evening, but it has not got that something very special, very exciting, brilliance. So - Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson is more than good enough for me. Pieter When I made the OP I was originally thinking whether or not the guys in the band deserved some recognition or identity behind the man with the flute. Ian seems very comfortable with this line up which did make it seem rather odd when I heard him say that at any point any one of these guys may be replaced. "Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson and the Pawns"

Given their mediocre performances on TAAB2, I vote for Jethro Dull. Jethro Dull. It's perfect.

Hello Darin... I posted this a while ago... and I can see that you liked it... but what exactly did you like about it? Have you changed your mind? In other words do you now think that Ian should call the band Jethro Tull, or what exactly did you think about, when you liked this?:
"We already have: Jethro Tull... and: Ian Anderson... I think that adding a third name to the list, will only add to the confusion... It's simply not user-friendly... I believe that it will affect CD and DVD sales in a negative way. To keep the train sliding... keep it simple... It's hard enough to sell music as it is nowadays..."

Hi Bostock! I was agreeing with "It's hard enough to sell music as it is nowadays…" Yet the most effective way Ian reaches out to the fans of Jethro Tull, that may not immediately recognize his name, is to remind the buyer that this is "Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson". At the same time he is playing to us "oldsters" by living up to his comment that "without Martin, it's not Tull". I think, as I stated in my last post about this that Ian put some thought into it. The intent of the original question was lighthearted and wasn't meant to seriously explore a new avenue for the band. For Ian to begin calling this Jethro Tull would alienate a lot of his faithful fans, so he is being a smart cookie in the marketing dept. don't you think? Again "It's hard enough to sell music as it is nowadays..."Darin

Bostock why care so much what anyone else prefers to call this band? Call it what you want and leave it at that. Ian calls this band Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson. I call it "Ian". I don't call it what I want... I call it whatever is says on the front cover... This CD is in my opinion an Ian Anderson CD... People can call it what they like... It doesn't affect the music... I personally wanted to hear what Darin Cody had to say about this... It turned out, that it wasn't a waste of time reading it... There was no abusive language... He clearly stated his opinion in a thorough and constructive way...

Bostock, we are all able to express ourselves in a non-abusive, albeit passionate way. A few people who couldn't act that way and started name calling and throwing abuse around once are no longer here. Let's move on in a non-abusive and positive way. No personal challenges, as Charlie said call it whatever you want, as does Ian.

After all, it only contains Ian and Peter, and it no way did it sound like Tull.

Well you posted the question to Darin on a thread others were a part of and usually we are acustomed to freely reply to such things. Sorry! You wrote: "Bostock why care so much what anyone else prefers to call this band?" My answer to this question was: "I personally wanted to hear what Darin Cody had to say about this..." Feel free to reply...

The question you ask: "...but why would anyone call Walk Into Light anything other than IA album?" could probably be answered in numerous ways... and I don't know the answer to all of them...

Statements like this, by Derik Pith: "I guess some folks want to keep beating a dead horse..."... may display a lot of passion, but it also displays a lot of disrespect... There are many ways of being honest... I don't think that this should be one of them... It think that it serves everybody best, if statements are combined with honesty and respect... If there are certain subjects that you don't want to discuss, you can always move on to the next... Maybe someone else want to have this conversation with me... Then again, you are always welcome to reply. That is, and has always been, entirely up to you. I may reply to anything that is written on the Jethro Tull Board myself, and I agree with you: "Let's move on in a non-abusive and positive way."

So let me set you straight: You "may only reply to anything written on the Jethro Tull Board" if I and the other moderators allow you to. Your behavior is typical of a troll and the sole basis of the reactions you have received here. If you are truly not a troll, I suggest you watch your step.
