The awfully nice people at All Flutes Plus have announced an exciting and unique event with a long established friend of All Flutes Plus Ian Anderson on Saturday, 1 February 2014 between 17:00 and 18:30 It is the first in a series of new projects and events in their 2014 calender. They state they wanted to put on an event with Ian to celebrate his amazing career for all his fans out there in the flute world and also maybe introduce a new generation of flautists to the amazing tour de force that is Jethro Tull. A fantastic opportunity to see the rock legend up close and personal and ask him questions regarding his love of the flute and amazing career spaning more than 4 decades. www.allflutesplus.com/product/audience-ian-andersonGot mine!

What a great gig.
About a 100 to 120 people, Tull fans, flute players old and young, plus the man himself, on stage, and pretty much alone for most of the gig, well him, the oldest i-Pod in the world and a relatively low key PA system.
A mix of Q&A and music with Ian playing along to backing tracks played from his i-pod.
Tracks played
In the grip of stronger stuff God rest ye merry gentlemen Bouree Living in the past Eurology Griminelli's Lament - Ian played the duet with Ian Mc Mullen [need to check the surname - apologies if I heard it incorrectly] Bach's Prelude in C Major Ian also played along to two Seth Lakeman tracks, Coppinger and The White Hare. He played along with Ian Mc Mullen again [need to check the surname] on Poor Man Finale was an instrumental Locomotive Breath with ian playing along to the original backing track.
The questions touched on: The story of Ian's first flute; He mentioned that he has finised mastering the new album yesterday with a 5.1 mix; The problems he has with his 'injured' little finger; The use of noddlely time signatures, and how they should be driven by melody; Improvisation; The album he is most proud of [Stand Up] What issues he had in revisiting TaaB.
Whether he was playing or talking, it was a joy to watch his performance in such an intimate atmosphere.
A special event added by the fact that I went with two old friends, Mike and his wife Gill, who have been Tull fans since the 60's and meet up with and sat alongside Martin Webb, who snapped the show.

I should have added, All Flutes Plus had a number of video recorders running around the stage, so expect some decent video from them.
I hope they watermark them.

A couple of snaps from yesterday's gig and a bit of video of Locomotive Breath, not the greatest quality [sound and vision] as it was lifted quickly from the phone, and only a 23 sec clip, hardly 1080p but maybe one day it'll reach those giddy heights The sound at the venue was quite good, and nowhere near as tinny as this recording sounds.

Is that guy in front of you from The Boy Scout Manual logo? haha Yeah, He's The Manual's new discrete watermark, he will be added to all images and videos so that when they are upgraded we can still tell that they are ours.

The nice people at 'All Flutes Plus' have posted their video of Ian's show at The Bolivar Hall on the 1st February this year.
If you view it, and enjoy it, drop them a line to say thanks in their comments box, who knows, they may do it again sometime.

It was also quite funny.
