Here it is the pic I promised today early in the morning, myself after reaching the top on my cycling ride. I always use doo rag as Ian does in live concerts ;D Great picture, Serge, you good-looking devil, you. At least you manage to get some exercise in between posts, unlike the rest of us fat fucks! Where is that by the way? Jeff

Great picture, Serge, you good-looking devil, you. At least you manage to get some exercise in between posts, unlike the rest of us fat fucks! Where is that by the way? Jeff Thanks Jeff for your fulfilling words and appreciation towards me. For as long as I can remember to practise a sport has always been a need for me. In fact, after going out for a hard training day on my bike I always take much more strongly my website tasks, for instance those on this board, nowadays my preferred one site, I'm talking very seriouly, and of course being always well accompanied with my usual cup of tea and the hand rolling cigar habit. ha ha ha. Well Jeff i'm copying here a google maps pic, apart from other very characteristic of the place where I live, siting fairly clear on the map where my homeland is, at the Mediterranean border, beaches, summer resorts, good weather almost the whole year and where you'll taste the most exciting spanish food menus, like "la paella", to name one. i'm waiting for all of you to taste one, you won't ever forget the experience.hehe Marked with a red arrow my homeland a pic of the beach of my town, Alicante, close to Benidorm, a complete briton summer resort. And to go on with the duty of this thread, such an awesome Tull cover, though composed by Roland Kirk, Serenade To A Cuckoo, here played by Belo Horizonte from Brazil. Enjoy

Enjoy Thanks for the photos and maps, Janu, beautiful country there, and I imagine you've got a lot of Roman ruins in the area, from 600 years of Roman rule. I'd love to visit there someday. We can get some of that paella and a lot of wine. I really enjoy your posts here, by the way, it's a pleasure to have you as a friend here on the board, and on FB! Jeff

Jeff, you're imaging quite good, we have nearby some Roman ruins, especially the Tossal of Manisses spot which dates from century V & IV b. c. and which you can see at the image. Though Romans weren't the original invaders of these lands, the iberian first set up this settlement. Today during the night summers inside the spot we can enjoy some good open air concerts. A couple years ago I attended a special night performance with Roger Hodgson, the former leader of Supertramp, very good. Hope someday Ian or JT can visit us, hehe. It's also a pleasure to me to have discovered this stunning Tull site. A paella without a good wine isn't the same. Who Knows whether if it will ever be possible. On the other hand I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable as we aren't dealing in the main subject of this thread, the flute prog rock tubes stuff which was started by our friend Preston. If there's any problem with we can have "la paella" on other different new thread ;D. Sorry Preston if all of these posts are bothering you, anyway i don't want to distort the real meaning of this thread. Janu

Didn't the Romans fight a battle against Hannibal at Manisses during the Second Punic War?

Janu, don't worry yourself over veering off topic. We're used to it. Why, back in the day, Mister Crowe and I would veer on and off topic a dozen times in one thread. If it ever bothered anyone, they were kind enough not to let us know. Besides, if it's about food, well, we're all good eaters here. We don't know what we enjoy more; eating or talking about what we've eaten.

To keep the original idea of this thread, here is a long and wonderful song with a bit of good flute playing, the powerful italian progressive rock band Premiatta Forneria Marconi playing "Four Holes In The Ground" Enjoy blue

This isn't a prog rock performance, this is jazz, the music of your country, however the flute being played in minutes 4:17 and 6:27 is bloody worthy to be listened . Hope you'll enjoy like me. I'm going out for a hiking day, I'll add some pics, haha ;D

Here we don't ever have a rest, there's as much good stuff to bring out. Today another German band that spreads a good mix of psycodelic-progressive elements along with barroc touches. With flutes Of course!. Excellent work with organ and voices accompanied with sweet lyricism. Pell Mell and the song Marburg from 1972. A very good listen.

Chris Braun Band is another german band which german female vocalist Chris leads. Powerful guitars mixing some good flute progressive rock moments and psychodelic touches along with the nice Chris' voice. A good cover artwork too. Flute on the first tune is stunning. Just let yourself go, the songs does it.

Wow! what a good german band, Twenty Sixty Six And Then, is. This song, At My Home dates from 1972, good year for the progressive rock history; Thick as a Brick was issued that year. I liked strongly this one, what's your feedback? Previous thanks whether you talk about or not.

You're welcome, Preston, glad to see you again around and to have you delighted with the new terrific stuff I'm lately adding for all of you. I like specially Contraluz, from Argentina, they feature a very similar Tull sound. Nuevo Mexico has been a great surprise for me, jorge reye's flutes are really good here, "sinfonia en rock nº 1" is a long and good prog rock song as I like that much. Tako, from Yugoslavia, are great, too, here I add a bit of info with the cover artwork of their first release featuring the song you've showed us. rateyourmusic.com/artist/takoBen, from UK, is a great jazz-rock band, excellent the flute part you're recommending us. And from Barcelona , Spain, Gotic, another great flute progressive rock band. Wonderful album artwork, too. Album from 1975

Today is a big day, thanks to facebook I've met an awesome country fellow progressive singer from the '70s, Eduardo Bort, whom I've never listened before, he just released one album during the '70s which has been very weird for me checking how good he plays progressive stuff out. On this song the band who accompanies him plays a flauta dulce sweet flute ?( my own translation, hehe, don't know the exactly word in english). Most of you for sure will enjoy it Have all a good weekend
