paradiddling paraphernalia I meant to add this a while back, as a follow up after the interview with Barrie, on the people who have actually sat in the Tull drumseat and who have drummed with Tull. Here's couple of Doane's drumsticks, one from the Under wraps tour, the other from the Catfish tour

I've been pretty lucky over the years, seen loads of gigs that ended up having special guests that no-one expected or they just turned out to be special shows in some way or another. I might start a thread on that in a moment. Some have been special for what's happened around the gig, rather than the gig itself. So, There I was sitting at a Steeleye Span gig in Hammersmith Odeon, as it was then, looking forward to seeing them on the Storm Force Ten tour. Mrs Q [the first] had bought the tickets and we settled down to watch Steeleye, a few seats in the row in front of us remained empty and we remarked that it would be good if they stayed empty, since we were about 8 rows from the front and it gave us a great view of the stage. About ten minutes before the gig, this bloke sits in front of me, and I start nudging my wife...'it's Anderson', despite his remarkable similarity, she doesn't believe me that's it the man himself.... One way to settle this [No, not in Harry Hill, FIGHT! fashion], I tapped him on the shoulder, he turned round and my then wife turned pale..... Yep, it was Ian, he sat for most of the gig right in front of me, we had a brief chat [of the briefiest nature] and he signed my programme for me. Inner page of Steeleye Span programme with Ian Anderson's signatureBy sheer conincidence at another concert, in the 80's, I ended up sitting next to John Evan, but that's another story and autigraph.

That's a great story, Pat, and you were lucky to see Steeleye on that tour, and to have Ian sitting right in front of you for that! Didn't Martin Carthy rejoin Steeleye for that album? I have been trying to find a CD of it on Amazon, but it's like $350 or something, because it's so rare.
I'd like to hear the John Evans story too.

Jeff, Yep, that's right. The tour band was Maddy Prior, Tim Hart, Martin Carthy, Rick Kemp, Nigel Pegrum and John Kirkpatrick. For some reason, porbably promo's left over from a previous tour, the programmes had these adhesive backed flyers with them

Rocket Cottage is another album that can barely be found on CD at a cost of less than about $500. So I am still missing that one and Storm Force Ten from my Steeleye collection.
Up until recently, the same situation obtained with Commoner's Crown, an album that I was dying to have. Fortunately, though, it was remastered as part of a Steeleye compilation album, and then the album became available as a separate download on Amazon, so I downloaded it and burned it to CD for $9.99!

Thanks TTT, It's been a long time collecting and most of it only saw the light of day again a few months ago when I retrieved it all from storage to scan or photograph for the board. It was sitting around too long in storage and I thought I'd at least share the images with fans who wanted to see them. I don't even see it myself that often these days. If you think these few bits are awesome, you should see my younger brother's WHO collection.....now to any WHO collector that would be rightfully called 'truly awesome'.

Now, really awesome ;D would be Keith Moon's drum sticks. protect and survive Now, I'm not 100% but he does have a stack of Keith Moon stuff, and I do believe that he may have a pair of sticks. He does have a One Pound note that Keith signed to him at the opening of the 'Who's Who' exhibtion which opened in london's ICA, not long before Keith died. A Townshend signature SG signed personally to my brother is my favourite piece of his. My favourite piece is a large picture of the WHO on stage signed by Townshend wishing me a happy birthday.

I know, I was 'looking after it' for awhile a few years ago. It sounds great, although little Brother told me that it sounded better when Townshend played it.

Jeff The John Evan story centres on a gig that David Palmer was doing at the Hammersmith studio's at the time wehn there was talk of Tallis. I'll try and add it tomorrow.

Jeff, really that much? I'll dig around some UK stores and see what I can find....I know I have them on vinyl and think I have both of them on CD. Maybe not that high, but I remember that both Rocket Cottage and Storm Force Ten have been discontinued, so that any CDs of those two are exceedingly rare, and were a fortune, at least a couple of hundred for an wrapped "new" copy, and even the used CDs were over $100, if I'm not mistaken. You could get used vinyl copies for much cheaper, but I would want it on CD. I should really go back and look because I think there was some indication that Storm Force Ten was going to be re-made....I remember leaving my email address with Amazon for them to notify me if and when it becomes available. I have all of the Steeleye Span on vinyl geeze I had no idea they were worth as much, they are original release, they were also in part of Chrysalis Records first box set in the US I just went to Amazon, and found two new copies of the Rocket Cottage remastered CD, available for sale at $149.00 and $199.00, so that gives you the idea. There were also used copies in very good condition for $45.00 and $50.00, but I wouldn't pay that much for a used CD. I had better luck with Storm Force Ten. Although there are no new copies of that, I picked up a used one in very good condition for $17.99, still high for a used disc, but it is a reliable vendor and I doubt I will ever find it for less, or even for any price, again.
